Brothers

[edit]

AFAIK, Ville has 2 brothers, and one of them is Väinö. Väinö is an I.T. teacher in Pirkkala Secondary School in Finland. His biography doesn't tell anything about these brothers, but I thought it would be worthwile mentioning them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.153.11.237 (talk) 22:02, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think so. Invasive Spices (talk) 18:50, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Better sourcing

[edit]

@Drmies: Is this good? Invasive Spices (talk) 18:49, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Invasive Spices, thanks--I was actually about to post on your talk page, but that page is huge. Well, what you have is a five-page note on a panel in which your guy is one of some thirty participants, so I am not sure how you can argue that that is a notable publication written by him. The other article is jointly written with five other authors, and it is cited, true, by a few other articles, but none of them discuss Friman or, it seems, actually discuss the work. In other words, there really is no indication that he is a notable scholar who has made important contributions to the field, as required by NPROF. But then, what you did with the article was nothing: if he is supposed to be notable as a microbiologist or whatever, you should have rewritten it. You added nothing that proves he is notable outside of his band.
    What else? The external links? Encyclopaedia Metallum is user-generated and adds nothing to notability, and the link to his band--well, he's not his band, and this article is not about his band. So no, they do not jibe well with WP:EL. Finally, there's your edit summary. I don't know why you're saying "that's awfully BOLD"--there really was nothing bold about it. We have a non-notable person in a BLP without proper secondary sourcing, so the bold thing really is that you turned this back. Drmies (talk) 18:59, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think doi:10.1002/biot.201600023 speaks well of him personally because it's a selective panel. The journal views him as one of the world's best on this subject.
The second paper is indeed not him alone but is very influential in micro eco.
I think those both satisfy The person's research has had a significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources. in WP:NPROF.
http://www.metal-archives.com/artists/Ville_Friman/3694 is about him specifically but it's true the other EL is not. Invasive Spices (talk) 19:21, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If he's one of thirty, he's not that special. I'm one of a dozen in my field. If that paper is so important, you would have to prove that with people saying words. Just a few citations, in a business in which there is notable CITEKILL, I don't see how that proves he's a notable scholar--and again, that's not what the article is about. Drmies (talk) 19:24, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't disagree about CITEKILL and I know from following his work that applies here. He's a very good player of the least publishable unit game. Hence I haven't used his publication count as an argument. However I am trying to make the case upon SECONDARY reception of his work. Invasive Spices (talk) 21:05, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
