Difference between old DMA and UDMA?

[edit]

What's the difference between WDMA and UDMA signaling apart from the speed? Or is it ONLY the speed? -- 77.7.188.166 (talk) 10:27, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Very vague article

[edit]

"The Word DMA (WDMA) interface was the fastest method used to transfer data between the computer (through the ATA controller) and an ATA device...". What is meant by computer? Is the ATA-device itself not part of a "computer"?

"The explanation for the difference between single and multiword DMA can be found in how the Intel 8237[citation needed] DMA chip works." Then why write an article on WDMA? Plus in the linked article, multiword is not explained.

I think this article should be rewritten (would do it myself but I have not enough knowledge of the subject). --81.244.37.74 (talk) 10:38, 25 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
