WorldCat Genres
[edit]Hello, I'm working with OCLC, and we are algorithmically generating data about different Genres, like notable Authors, Book, Movies, Subjects, Characters and Places. We have determined that this Wikipedia page has a close affintity to our detected Genere of western-comic-books-strips-etc. It might be useful to look at [1] for more information. Thanks. Western comics → Western (genre) comics – WP:AT The current title does not sufficiently identify the topic of this article. "Western comics" can and does refer to comics from the Western World, and is contrasted with Eastern comics from variously, Eastern Europe, or the Far East (manga, manhwa, manhua); the unclear current title should be changed to a clearer title. I suggest something like Cowboy and western comics or Old West, cowboy and western comics or Old West and western comics or Western (genre) comics or Westerns (comics) -- 64.229.90.172 (talk) 04:17, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose, a hatnote is sufficient to clear up any potential misinterpretation of the article's title. 162 etc. (talk) 19:03, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose - no demonstrable confusion, and the alternative titles are worse. -- Netoholic @ 19:54, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- Questions: What's the common name? Why wouldn't we put the disambiguator at the end of the title? Red Slash 03:42, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose per the common name for the genre. Randy Kryn (talk) 15:08, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
- Comment - the proposed change is not inconsistent with other items in the Westerns genre. Some are disambiguated, such as Western film (genre), and others are not, such as Western fiction. I don't know that the disambiguation is necessary as the lead makes clear what it is, but wouldn't oppose the move either, although it would probably be the most consistent to put the disambiguation at the end like Western comics (genre).
