Version 3.1
There appears to be a 3.1 update as of October 9. I don't know what the update does. However, there are updates to the Internet Channel and Everybody Votes Channel that I can't download. I will be back as soon as I know the answer. Mmark089 04:09, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- Interesting. Can you explain how you found this out. Perhaps I could look into this as well. If there is an update, however, we should all receive a message about it tomorrow. -Zomic13 04:51, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, I see on the Wii Shop Channel - but is there an actual firmware update too or just the updates of these programs (as they are two different things)? -Zomic13 04:56, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
I went to a forum and someone said that there was an update. He wasn't joking. So I updated my Wii to 3.1 and saw no changes. I can't download the updates for the Internet and Everybody Votes Channels. Mmark089 05:00, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Interestingly, downloading the channel updates before the system update works. The system update can still be done after downloading the individual updates, so it probably is more than just an update of these programs. Helsionium 11:45, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
According to gizmodo, the update adds full support for USB keyboards.Purplepurplepurple 19:19, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
According to my Wii, the update adds full support for USB keyboards. It even sent me a message telling me so! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.211.18.253 (talk) 01:37, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Everybody's Nintendo Channel
Does anyone know if this channel will be released in the United States? Of course it won't be released the same date as Japan, but will it ever come to us?69.121.96.140 21:50, 10 October 2007 (UTC) It is beyond obvious that it will be released in the US. and since all Channels have been released worldwide at the same time I would assume that it would come out the same time as Japan...(MP3C Preview Channel does'nt really count since it was just used to promote it and the US is Metroid crazy...) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.145.221.153 (talk) 07:31, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

I have taken the liberty to archive previous discussions to help focus the Talk Page on more recent happenings and to make it a bit neater. If there are any unresolved issues feel free to pull them out of the archive. -Digiwrld1 22:35, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Proposal to Create WiiWare Page
With Nintendo's recent conference, it is now clear that the WiiWare is a major service with developers ranging from indie studios to major backers like Square Enix. Although we still don't have all the information of WiiWare, there is no doubt that eventually it will have to get its own page, i.e. the Virtual Console. The question then is do we create the page now and update when possible, or wait for more details than currently available and create a page later on?
I suggest creating a new page now; information may still be lacking some, but it will likely be a full featured article by the time the service launches. -Digiwrld1 22:35, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- I think you should wait a little longer .Richardson j 23:07, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
I created this page earlier today. List of WiiWare games. I would support the creation of a WiiWare page. Zomic13 00:14, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
I also agree, a new page for Wii Ware should be created, set up in the same way as the Virtual Console Lists. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dartheyegouger (talk • contribs) 01:41, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Wii System Updates
As per a discussion on the (now archived) talk page and with the release of v3.1 software, I created a page for Wii System Updates. The firmware updates section on this page has been removed as a result of that discussion. -Zomic13 01:18, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Pokemon Ranch Channel and other WiiWare Titles
The Pokemon Ranch Channel is a WiiWare title. This and other WiiWare games do not receive their own section - they are simply grouped together under WiiWare. This is no different than how Virtual Console titles are handled. -Zomic13 20:38, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ok but heres a question: will "check mii out" be realeased in U.S.A. soon? --mrultraperson
p.s sorry for not signing. im using the wii browser. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.43.218.71 (talk) 23:35, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Most Virtual Console titles are handled that way but the more popular ones do have their own wiki pages. It is really hard to compare the two because WiiWare games are new properties which can be documented by Wikipedia. More Virtual Console games might have had their own pages if Wikiedia had been around during their creation. They have the same downloading medium but I do not think they should be handled the same way on WP. Level 9 09:03, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm simply referring to this page (Wii Menu). No Virtual Console game has its own section. I'm not referring to individual pages in which almost every Virtual Console and WiiWare title has its own page. -Zomic13 13:36, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Bg news.PNG
Image:Bg news.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Merge discussion
I am proposing a merge discussion on several Wii articles - the discussion to be, however, what to merge and where. If anyone would like to join in, please go to Talk:Wii. - A Link to the Past (talk) 17:51, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Wii Gift Channel
[1] This link tells us that there will be a gift channel from nintendo that will come out in december to give Virtual Console as gifts. Any thoughts of adding this into the article? Uchiha23 18:56, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Read your link carefully. It makes no statement about it being a separate channel. In fact, nowhere is a statement about a separate gift channel made by an official source. It is actually very likely that the feature will be implemented through an updated Wii Shop Channel. Dancter 19:18, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Nintendo announced that it will be a new feature of the Wii Shop Channel in which you can buy games for friends. -Zomic13 19:48, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Could you point me to the announcement? The "for friends" part seems to be an important detail, and needs a little clarification. Dancter 19:56, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- What needs to be clarified about it? I'll try to look for a source. -Zomic13 22:58, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Mii Contest Channel (MCC) and Everybody's Nintendo (ENC) release dates.
Is their a source confirming the MCC and ENC dates? If not, then we have to erase the dates.Mmark089 06:59, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not aware of any specific dates, although they were set for release this Holiday season in Japan. -Zomic13 08:30, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
No they are set for November in Japan (and probally everywhere else aswell) Just look at #30 of the references on the WiiMenu page....it says right there that they are both coming November 07 in Japan (and 99.9% everywhere else since all channels have worldwide releases) lol....you needed a source when it was already on the reference section -_- —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.145.221.153 (talk) 20:14, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
I put the "citation needed" reminder because someone put a North American release date. Now that I put it up, someone deleted the NA release date. I removed the reminder.Mmark089 21:20, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Check Mii Out Release Date
Does anyone one else thing that we should say the evening of November 11. It could be misleading to someone who just saw the article. The press release by Nintendo says the evening of November 11 will be the release. 69.121.105.50 12:10, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
It was the 12th not the 11th one the it's confurmed here here & the american site should say the same here so you can check them both out and also on the 11th the Mii Contest Channel was not available for mii to download Richardson j 03:48, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- It shouldn't say evening on the 11th, but it should also not say 12th, since it WAS released on the 11th. http://press.nintendo.com/articles.jsp?id=13972 "Nintendo supports consumers' creative spirit with the Nov. 11 evening launch of the Check Mii Out Channel." --LN3000 04:30, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- Why shouldn't it say the "evening of November 11". That's what the press release straight from Nintendo says and it was released on the evening of the 11th. It was available for a while before midnight of the 11th EST (its just past 9pm on Nov. 11 on the West Coast). -Zomic13 05:09, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- It really sounds awkward saying "evening of". It'd be easier to just say the 11th. --LN3000 05:33, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- Why would it be on the 11th in one part of the world & 12th for the rest it's pointless . So it must be the one or the other & as i found it unavailable yesterday so it must be the 12th then . Richardson j 12:17, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

- I live in North America and got it on the 11th. Why not just say it was released around 7:45 PM EST on November 11? Or pick some other time zone and the equivalent time? Smartyllama 12:36, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- ether it's a weird glitch or nintendo inadvertently released it early over there in america . At least one thing they didn't erased all of our accounts ..... yet . lol .It would be quit annoying to find you got no points and also possible locking the the games you downloaded from being played .Richardson j 13:00, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

- If it was a world-wide release then work out the date/time in UTC and use that. If it was only a US release then state the date/time in EST and use that. - X201 12:55, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- It was a worldwide release. I originally put it in EST but I will change it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smartyllama (talk • contribs) 14:30, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- It was not a "weird glitch". Timezone differences play a role. However, according to IGN (http://wii.ign.com/articles/834/834417p1.html) America DID get it earlier than Europe. So it WAS November 11th. We might now have to say November 12th for Europe, since they were released separately, regardless of time zone. --LN3000 17:46, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- But still theres no reason for only a day difference .But with this going on i'm worried about an edit war .Richardson j 22:39, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- The North America Shop and the Europe Shop are on different servers, so that explains the delay. The fact remains that you can look and see that the Channel was technically available (somewhere in the world) on November 11th. The question is how (if at all) do we explain the time delay?

Does anyone remember the final chapter of Around the World in 80 Days?
It's OK, times zones explain it all.
US release was on the 11th at 7:45
which is the same as 00:45:00 Monday November 12, 2007 in GMT and also the same as 11:45:00 Monday November 12, 2007 in Australia/Sydney
Everyone forgot that Australia and Europe are ahead of EST and so it's the 12th for them before it is for the US. So the UTC time in the article is correct for all countries. - X201 09:27, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- Now it makes sense but still how do we say it in the article itself then Richardson j 23:35, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
System Updates
I think it would be better if we said in the System Updates paragraph when the last one was. Now if someone wanted to know what was the most recent we could just state the date. Any suggestion?69.121.105.50 12:10, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Possible Nov. 11 Update
This is a re-post from the update page. I'm posting it here because this talk page is more active than the System Update page. I just noticed this morning when the blue light is lit, it blinks differently again. With the last update it would light up bright and then blink three times. Now all it does is become bright and then fade back down. Kind of like a lighting bug. Would this be exceptable to add to the update page? Neo Samus 17:30, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- Doesn't happen to me. Am00nz0r5 19:17, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- There is no change to the way the slot light works. Sometimes the light studders a little when it first turns on (which could account for the blinking you say you saw). There was no system update either. -Zomic13 20:23, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- I just received a new message from one of my friends, and this time the light faded down without blinking, just as you said. I don't know why this is, but I prefer it this way. Am00nz0r5 23:36, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- Super Mario Galaxy had a Wii update, separate from any Internet updates, that I don't know what it did. Also, with the Photo Channel update next month that changes MP3 to AAC format music, how will Excite Truck be dealt with? Will it still work with MP3, or will it automatically work with AAC? --LN3000 03:58, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ok so it's not an update, but the reason I brought it up is because when I received message in the past it ALWAYS blink two or three times for me, it wasn't a fluke. But thank you for answering my question. LN, where did you hear about this Photo channel update? Neo Samus 07:37, 14 November 2007 (UTC) Edit: Never mind I read the article.
- http://wii.nintendo.com/photo_channel.jsp "The Photo Channel will change" --LN3000 08:20, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

More info under the Check Mii Out Channel?
It seems to me that since the channel is already released, what is in the article and what anyone who uses the channel knows about the channel is a little unequal. Even the photo and news channels have more. All the channel has is the date released and something that says you can put your miis in contests... 99.131.139.180 01:01, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
November 28
As much as I would like to believe it, saying that the Everybody's Nintendo Channel comes out November 28 without a source is not Wikipedia material. If no one can find a source verifying the release date I will delete it in 48 hours. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.124.226.50 (talk) 19:31, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
- There's no need to wait that long. I removed it now. People just like to push what they hope onto Wikipedia as if it's fact. There's been a lot of that on Wikipedia regarding Nintendo lately. --LN3000 23:55, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Also just letting you know, someone edited the channel info and posted that you can also download Wii Demos. Which is not true.
Whoever edited it also posted that ypu can download videos of Wii and DS games. Which again is not true. You can stream videos but not download them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.145.221.153 (talk) 20:18, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
If Japan gets the Everybody's Nintendo Channel and NA does'nt...

As of November 25th. 6:00PM CST. It has not been released in Japan. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.145.221.153 (talk) 01:36, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Virtual Console Channels!
Is it possible to organise Virtual Console games into their own respective console channels? I.e. N64 games into an N64 channel; SNES games into a SNES channel; etc. I've been told "it's not" on previous discussion boards, but the first image on this article shows both an N64 and NES channel. What's the story? --Dark_Wolf101 (talk) 21:43, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
That is not a seperate N64 or NES Channel. All Virtual Console games on the Wii Menu switch between their title screen and the system it's on.Mmark089 (talk) 22:39, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
I have a Theory to all yo problems!
Good News Everyone's Nintendo channel is coming out the same time as Japan in November or December in America. you know how i know all this crap about Super Smash Bros Brawl having a demo might be true because on this channel you can download Demos and Demember 15 they will have the brawl roster released. because The Internet Channel still had a Trial Version and a full version so my guess is that they will have a Demo with less stuff than the others. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.96.13.110 (talk) 01:21, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
No Just No.
1st: Its been confirmed to be out in November and not confirmed for NA (Although it most likely will come at the same time..but not confirmed)
2nd: SSBB Demo...? N_O_! A SSBB would take up atleast 6x more memory that the Wii has. Plus you can't download Wii demos. just DS...
Mother and Fire Emblem on Virtual Console
Taken from the Wii Shop Channel, Virtual Console, section:
"Nintendo plans to release many other Japanese games to America as well, such as the Fire Emblem and Mother (Known as Earthbound in the U.S) series."
Can anyone confirm this with a source?
Gift Channel
This had no source so I deleted it. I thought it would have been a service not a channel. If anyone has a source they can put it back up.69.121.100.81 (talk)
