I've deleted "Savage Lake" because it sounds odd, like "bloodthirsty lake" or something, which is not the intent of the Slovene name. There are other analogies for "Wild Lake," such as Wild Lake (Arkansas), Wild Lake Estates (Maryland), etc. as well as hydronyms like Wild River (Androscoggin River) and place names like Wild River State Park such that "Wild Lake" doesn't seem strange. I should note that there are also quite a few places named "Savage Lake" etc., but these all appear to be inappropriate analogies because they are 1) named for people named Savage (e.g., Savage Bay, Manitoba, named for James G.W. Savage), 2) references to Indians ("savages"; e.g., Savage Lake in Ramsey Co., Minnesota), or 3) a corruption based on French sauvage 'wild' (e.g., Savage Lake in Little Canada, Minnesota), which would simply point back to the name "Wild Lake".Doremo (talk) 04:09, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
