Invention of time-zones

The Olson database (the nearest thing there is to an authoritative source of data on time-zones) credits Wollaston with first proposing the use of a uniform time nationwide, rather than local mean time in each place. I have no further information on Eggert's source for that claim, but if someone can dig it up it would be a worthy addition to this page. – Eddy 84.212.132.95 (talk) 16:02, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
