Requested move 17 May 2023

The result of the move request was: moved. The discussion here crystallized around two main options: one was the original proposal, and the other was a proposal to retarget Youth Theatre to Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA). While the lowercase youth theatre is already a redirect to TYA, it was noted that "Youth Theatre" is a different term per WP:DIFFCAPS. Additionally, it was argued that there was no primary topic for the capitalized term "Youth Theatre", an argument that was not effectively refuted in the discussion. Therefore, I find a consensus to move the article as originally proposed. (closed by non-admin page mover) ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 15:02, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
Youth Theatre (disambiguation) → Youth Theatre – Youth Theatre is just a redirect to Youth Theatre (disambiguation). No incoming links Special:WhatLinksHere/Youth Theatre showing some special meanings. MrKeefeJohn (talk) 16:40, 17 May 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 09:13, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. A bit of wikihistory here. The term "Youth Theatre" was "squatted" by Novi Sad Youth Theatre, which I moved to the "disambiguated" title similar to ones in this dab page. And for a while I was playing with the idea to write an article about a theatre dedicated to youth, keeping the article Young Spectator's Theatre in mind, which is focused on the kind of theatre proliferated in the former Soviet Union. But the idea sizzled in my brain, because it turned out to be an enormous subject. Google say that there are solid sources that define the generic term "Youth theatre", such as Youth Theatre. Drama for Life, which says in part in p.9 that the National Association of Youth Theatres (Great Britain) put forth the following definition in 2003: "Youth theatre is a broad term used to describe a wide variety of organizations engaging yuong people in theatre related activities... <etc.>" The term actually disambiguates into two meanings: one is "Theatre by youth", as exemplified by the boook Youth Theatre. Drama for Life mentioned aboove, another one is "Theatre for youth", see Youth, and Culture: A Critical and Historical Exploration, which operates with the term Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA). Oops, it already has an article! Adding it to this DAB page.
- Therefore I say the correct decision would be
- Redirect Youth Theatre and Youth theatre -> Theatre for Young Audiences
- Put the hatnote on the TYA page: {{redirect|Youth Theatre}}
- Therefore I say the correct decision would be
- Support per nomination. There are 36 bulleted entries listed upon the Youth Theatre (disambiguation) page, with no indication that any one of the entries holds such renown that it dwarfs the combined notability of the remaining 35 entries. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 05:43, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, you are mistaken. Theatre for Young Audiences has 379 wikipedia hits, but most of them were not wikilinked. And it is not an individual theatre, unlike other entries in the list. Hence my alternative suggestion above. I started adding wikilinks, but quickly got bored (379, you know. 321 left. See you next month:-) Lokys dar Vienas (talk) 18:29, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
- Relisting comment: Thoughts about redirecting Youth Theatre to Theatre for Young Audiences instead of this move? The term "youth theatre" is in the lede in bold (albeit with an alternate capitalization that already redirects there). Skarmory (talk • contribs) 09:13, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- Support. The completely capitalized version is a proper name and shouldn’t redirect to the article on the general subject per Wikipedia:DIFFCAPS Aaron Liu (talk) 15:22, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
