Renounced US citizenship

[edit]

FYI I don't see her name isn't on the list of people who have renounced their citizenship. All the reporting she gave it up are contemporary, and seem to be in articles critical of her performance in the Winter Olympics, so I would take them with a grain of salt. — Preceding unsigned comment added 23:38, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

The PRC does not allow dual citizenship. --79.197.163.14 (talk) 14:22, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
According to the BBC she did renounce her US Citizenship.[1]Alcibiades979 (talk) 22:21, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The US government official record is contemporary, updated as of 01/26/2022. It does not show that Zhu gave up American citizenship.

All media reports about Zhu giving up citizenship in 2018 came from interviews of Zhu and her family and might not have been independently verified. After all, shouldn’t US government record be final?

Here we are giving out facts (dual citizenship in this case), not a grain of salt. Nobody is passing judgment on her Olympic performance.

By the way, the PRC does not RECOGNIZE dual citizenship, not “allow”. Please read their nationality law.

No evidence of renunciation of American citizenship

[edit]

The US government record is also contemporary. The latest update was 01/26/2022 and her name is not there. In fact, from 2017 to 2022, there is only one person surnamed Zhu who gave up American citizenship who is a male. The media’s report the Zhu gave up citizenship in 2018 only comes from Zhu and her family, probably without verifications. The US government official record should precede any media reports, no matter how many one may find.

If there isnt any WP:RS then you can take it out. But we just report what the verifiable/reliable neutral news outlets say. Eruditess (talk) 22:51, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
