The result of the move request was: Moved with Zombie Dog and Zombie dog redirecting to Zombie animal Wug·a·po·des 19:23, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Zombie DogZombie dog (Resident Evil) – This was not the first appearance of a zombie dog in popular culture, with a zombie dog having appeared in The Last Man on Earth as far back as 1964. (Also mentioned on page 58 of Zombie Culture: Autopsies of the Living Dead.) "Zombie Dog" also cannot be a proper noun, because we are talking about a type of enemy, not a single dog. Unsure where the original name would redirect, but perhaps to a section in the zombie article on zombie animals. • Oppose, although without caring about the capitals. You didn't give a topic this could point to realistically, and from a search, I am really not thinking there is one. So, this seems like a solution searching for a problem. --Quiz shows 09:42, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per Category:Resident Evil characters, (Resident Evil) is the normal and correct disambiguator. More importantly, a GBooks search shows multiple zombie animals in fiction. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:45, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, though I also take no position on the capitalization of dog. I did the Google Books search that is referred to above and I saw a few instances of zombies that are dogs, but no other use of the proper term "Zombie dog" as used in Resident Evil. The disambiguation seems unnecessary in this case, and if there is a concern people will end up on this page when they really mean Zombie animal, then an About template could be added to the top of this page directing them there. — Hunter Kahn 13:30, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • The exact term "zombie dog" or "zombified dog" or "zombie X" is used in places that are not Resident Evil related. There is no way this can be the primary topic, either for "Zombie dog" or "Zombie Dog". Now a page, zombie animal, exists where the primary name can redirect.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 20:18, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
      • I'm sure the term "zombie dog" has been used in the past, but I don't see any evidence that it's wide-spread. The Resident Evil character seems to be the only place where the term is used as a proper name. I don't see any reason it shouldn't be the primary topic as long as there is a template at the top redirecting people in case they are searching for a "zombie animal" instead. (Honestly, I think if someone is searching "zombie dog" it's way more likely they're looking for this page...) — Hunter Kahn 21:18, 28 December 2019 (UTC) (See below.) — Hunter Kahn 02:12, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. Before I start, regardless of anything I support the move from the current title to Zombie dog at the very least. It was a mistake on my part to not have moved it to that title originally.
I may have moved the article recently, but I don't have any dog in this fight. I just wanted to share that the following external game wikis have articles titled "Zombie Dog" if anyone was interested: Zombie Dog, Zombie Dog, Summon Zombie Dogs, Zombie Dog, Zombie Dog, Zombie Dog, and Creature: Zombie Dog.
Further, I'll point out that zombie animal is a broad-concept article since I think that's neat.
However, I actually do have some serious suggestions. I think that zombie animal should probably be refocused on just dogs. If there is a want for real life examples of "Zombie dogs" then I would possibly include these.[1][2][3][4][5] If my advice on refocusing the article on "zombie animals" is taken, then I would fully support moving this article to the proposed title. Otherwise, I don't see a point in directing readers looking for information on "zombie dogs" to an article about zombie animals when we have at least one article on exclusively about zombie dogs. Otherwise, it's a bit of a WP:SURPRISE and a hatnote here directing readers to zombie animal would be more effective. –MJLTalk 22:44, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per arguments of nominator and In ictu oculi, i.e. per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, MOS:CAPS / WP:NCCAPS, and WP:CONSISTENT.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  06:16, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, redirect Zombie Dog and Zombie dog to Zombie animal. Seems like the only logical solution. The RE character is not literally named Zombie Dog, it's just a dog that is a zombie. Axem Titanium (talk) 23:25, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Expand[edit]

Should this be expanded into an article discussing the topic of Zombie (Resident Evil) in general? I'm not convinced that this is independantly notable on its own and the article should be called Cerberus (Resident Evil) anyway. Darkknight2149 11:00, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Darkknight2149: Since a few editors have recently expressed their concern about whether the subject topic should have its own standalone article, even though there is a lack of consensus on that point from the AfD, I am inclined to agree with your proposal. Zombie (Resident Evil) certainly is a stronger topic since the entire franchise revolves around that concept and there's plenty of significant coverage, and I have already found a few sources which would support such an article while doing my WP:BEFORE. Would you be interested in contributing, or should I just go ahead and set one up, with the contents of this Zombie dog article merged into the proposed article?
