  • New and long enough, QPQ done, no copyvios found (in either the article or the image) and the hooks (both ALT0 and ALT1) seem good and are accepted in good faith. The one thing I'm unsure of is the tone: I have just removed some prose which to me didn't quite seem NPOV enough. This article was written by someone who clearly has a sense of admiration for Eivind Astrup. Which is understandable, but unfortunately not very encyclopedic. So, I'm tagging this {{DYK?again}} so another reviewer will hopefully verify whether this article is good to go, or needs to have some work done to adhere to a NPOV.—♦♦ AMBER(ЯʘCK) 18:19, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

General: Article is new enough and long enough

Policy compliance:

Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: Done.

Overall: "Astrup was an excellent writer and, unlike Nansen and Amundsen, he was able to depict a people who had not had much previous contact with Europeans." - This needs to have a citation, as it definitely looks somewhat promotional/non-neutral. Also, with this sentence, "The book received rave reviews in Norway and became very popular" - replace the term "rave" with something more neutral like "positive" or "highly positive." I also think that ALT1 is not supported by the article text. --3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 01:43, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for the review. I have tried to address the issues raised by rewriting the two sentences mentioned, hopefully clarifying something, and also added another reference. About ALT1, whether the combination of dog sleds and skis came to revolutionize polar expeditions; this is taken from, and cited to, Barr's preface to Bloch-Nakkerud's biography. (Maybe this aspect could be discussed in more detail in the article?) Oceanh (talk) 00:44, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
Oceanh: The article looks a lot better, but the hook is still not supported. The article does not make a cited claim that he introduced the combination of dogs and skis. The hook needs to be modified to match with what the article actually says.
I just made some minor corrections to the article's spelling, grammar and sentence structure. I think the article has been much improved with the recent edits. Thanks Chewings72 (talk) 04:15, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
Just to make sure, the source says that he helped introduce using dog sleds while skiing? The sentence is still nebulous, as it just says that he skiied and also used dog sleds. If the hook were change to say that he helped introduce this technique, I could approve it, provided the sentence in the article were corrected as I've suggested.--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 04:30, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Approved for ALT3, which is the best supported by the article text.--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 00:49, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

  • PS I think this has a fantastic photographic for a biographical hook, so I've provided a tighter crop. Let me know if you think the crop should be wider. Hopefully this should get a lead slot after 8 March. Jolly Ω Janner 07:49, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
