Golden Valley Formation

  • ... that the Golden Valley Formation preserves fossilized remains of Coryphodon (pictured)? Source: Hickey, Leo J. 1977. • Reviewed: This is my first DYK nomination so I am exempt from the QPQ requirement. I reviewed a hook for Pre-collisional_Himalaya, however.
  • Comment: Article created in my sandbox on Feb 3, moved to mainspace on Feb 4.

  • Article is long enough and new enough. I can't access most of the sources, but I am not certain whether "It is underlain by the Sentinel Butte Formation and overlain by the White River Group or exposed at surface." is congruent with the map presented. Hook is supported by an inline citation and is moderately interesting. QPQ pending. Nothing about copyvio in the tool, image seems fine for me. I have added a link to a stratigraphic column that should help clarify the stratigraphic position of the formation. I also added some information from that source. Georgialh (talk) 20:40, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

@Georgialh: Where in the source is montmorillonite mentioned? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 21:18, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Montmorillonite is discussed by Hickey (p. 19-20). I'll add the ref. Georgialh (talk) 21:59, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
