Overall: Created 7/24, nominated 7/25. Freedom of panorama in Spain applies to picture and checked usage/clarity. Hook has a minor issue, but I welcome the nominator to offer an alternate hook without the "best known for" language and I'll happily approve it. -bɜ:ʳkənhɪmez (User/say hi!) 03:26, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
@Berchanhimez: How about the new modified hook with the same source ~ Amkgp💬 03:38, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
@Amkgp: to me at least the word "recognized" still implies something more than what the source supports. May I recommend something like "... that the sculpture of Ferdinand III in the Plaza Nueva, Seville was sculpted by Joaquín Bilbao"? -bɜ:ʳkənhɪmez (User/say hi!) 03:42, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
approved for alt1 - congrats User:Amkgp -bɜ:ʳkənhɪmez (User/say hi!) 03:54, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
Hi, I keep coming by to promote this, because the image is kind of neat even though it's shadowy. But the approved hook, which the approving editor himself wrote, is really not hooky. Putting the subject's name at the very end of the hook also shifts the focus away from him; readers are more likely to click on the sculpture link instead. I would promote the first hook, except there is no verification in the source that this is what he is "best known" for. (I removed the source from the lead.)
However, if this is what he's best known for, I think you should add a short section about it. Other pages on sculptors also list their works and date of completion. The article hardly has any personal information about him, and I've added two tags. An infobox would also be nice.
Here is another hook idea:
ALT3: ... that Joaquín Bilbao first studied drawing, watercolour, and law before launching a career as a sculptor (work pictured)?Yoninah (talk) 21:42, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
@Yoninah: I have proposed ALT4. It is within 200 word hook length limit and suggested improvements have been made at the article also. ~ Amkgp💬 04:17, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
@Amkgp: thank you. Are you going to say anything about his works in the article? Right now it's all about his professional affiliations. Yoninah (talk) 11:34, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
@Yoninah: Added a selected list of works. Hope now the DYK ready to go. ~ Amkgp💬 14:23, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
@Amkgp: Do you have a source for these lists? (See Rule D2). Yoninah (talk) 15:28, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
@Yoninah:{{sfn|Gómez Moriana|2010|p=133-137}} common ref for all added at the start of section 'Selected list of works'. ~ Amkgp💬 17:00, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
Thank you! The article looks much better now. I have struck the unused hooks and also trimmed the image caption, because it just repeated the information in the hook. Since I proposed the hook direction, we need another editor to sign off on ALT4. Pinging original reviewer Berchanhimez. Yoninah (talk) 17:41, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
- User:Yoninah, assuming you pinged me because I'm allowed to "re-review" the new hook, then I'm happy with it too. If not, then please feel free to remove the approved tick and just leave this as my comment. Thanks for figuring out how to make the hook more interesting where I couldn't. -bɜ:ʳkənhɪmez (User/say hi!) 20:26, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
