Part II (On the Run)
[edit]- ... that in "Part II (On the Run)" Beyoncé Knowles sings about hearing sirens while she "makes love" to her husband Jay-Z?

- The euphemism "make love" should be replaced with "have sex"; alternatively, there should be quotation marks because the phrase appears in the lyrics. The article appears to be properly sourced, along with the hook. It amazes me that so much can be written about a song that's only a few days old. Nice job. Surtsicna (talk) 23:15, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
- I added quotation marks. Thank you. My love is love (talk) 00:05, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
- I have pulled this one from prep as the hook fact is unremarkable, I would like to see a stronger hook for this nomination. Gatoclass (talk) 12:26, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
- Did you know
- ALT1 ... that "Part II (On the Run)" became Jay-Z's and Beyoncé Knowles' first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after they got married in April 2008?
- ALT2 ...
that in "Part II (On the Run)", Jay-Z sings about killing someone if he touches his wife Beyoncé Knowles?
- I have registered an objection to the original hook so it should not be re-promoted without a clear consensus. ALT2 has a similar problem as the original hook IMO - it's a commonplace statement and thus not at all remarkable. Since there seems to be an agreement that ALT1 is acceptable, that should be the hook of choice. Gatoclass (talk) 13:37, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, ALT1 is definitely better. I approved the original hook because it did not seem to me that a better one could be found, but I was obviously wrong. Surtsicna (talk) 13:56, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
- And I've registered an objection to drive-by removals of hooks from the prep areas by editors on unacceptable grounds like "unremarkable" without even proposing an alternative. As far as I am concerned, there is no consensus, and no valid objection to the original hook, which is far more interesting. Hawkeye7 (talk) 14:07, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
- You are taking this far too personally. You are doing a good job on the updates generally, but not everyone sees issues the same way, which is why DYK encourages checks by different users at every stage of the process. Removing a hook from the queue just allows for further discussion of the merits of a nom, that's all. And I don't always have time to propose an ALT hook right away, but I will usually do so later if nobody else has come up with a viable alternative in the meantime.
