... that in reaction to child sexual exploitation cases in Rochdale and in Rotherham, police investigated and prosecuted a similar case in Peterborough?
Overall: An amazingly balanced take on a hot button subject. DYK core requirements all check out. Although hook is overly long in edit view (263 characters), it shrinks to 143 characters to the reader's eye. Article is GTG. However, this curious George would like to know the effects of the perpetrators' ethnic backgrounds upon the case.Georgejdorner (talk) 16:17, 22 April 2015 (UTC)
Georgejdorner: Whether it should or shouldn't be, ethnicity in British criminal cases has been discussed, even on cases in which there is no direct racial motive. For as many politicians or authors who say that it comes from a foreign culture problem, there are as many who say that sexual crimes committed by ethnic minorities are overscrutinised and divert attention away from a crime committed by people from all walks of life (unfortunately, anywhere in the world, children are most likely to be abused by their parents more than anybody else). These two sides of the debate are presented in a way which is balanced (last time I checked) on the articles on the Rotherham and Rochdale cases. Those two are bywords for this type of criminal activity in the UK, to the same extent as "Columbine" would refer to the shooting. Despite the heavy jail term given for the Peterborough case, it received less debate and coverage than prior ones, where accusations of police and social service misconduct were reported as hindering prosecution for years.
