Siam during World War I

[edit]

Created/expanded by Arius1998 (talk). Self nom at 15:18, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

  • Nominator is required to submit a quid pro quo (QPQ) review within a week's time, and is reminded that QPQ's are always required when submitting a DYK nomination after the first five. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:50, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
  • QPQ review performed. Dates and sizes meet minimum DYK requirements. AGF of article hook and portions of article sourced to offline references. --Allen3 talk 23:19, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
  • I don't see the inline citations that back up the "development of Siamese nationalism" part of the hook. This needs to be provided. The token participation and "paved way for Siam's full independence" section, which should be "paved the way", is covered by the penultimate sentence in the intro, which is sourced (and as it's online, I've been able to confirm it). Once the new inline sourcing is provided, the article should be ready for promotion. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:52, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Which is the inline source that supports "paved the way for ... the development of the Flag of Thailand"? I may have missed something, but swapping "Siamese nationalism" for "the Flag of Thailand" doesn't seem to solve the hook sourcing issue. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:51, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
  • I've just read that source, and see nothing that supports "paved the way for the development of the Flag of Thailand". If anything, that source undercuts it, since it says that the first version of the flag was developed in 1916, a year before Siam declared war and began its participation. If I may make a suggestion, I'd just stop the hook text after "paved the way for Siam's full independence". That's quite hooky, is easily approved, and doesn't make additional claims that distract a bit from the whole. Let me know if that's okay. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:31, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
  • I believe that it would be okay to limit the hook there. Arius1998 (talk) 04:01, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Approving the following hook, which is a shortened version of the two earlier hooks, and acceptable to the nominator. (Changed the second "Siam's" to "the country's".) I've struck the earlier hooks. Rest of the review as per Allen3 above. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:24, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
