Will He Round the Point?

Improved to Good Article status by Ipigott (talk), Dr. Blofeld (talk). Nominated by Dr. Blofeld (talk) at 18:26, 23 August 2014 (UTC).

Skagen Painters passed a few days ago but painting articles are all over the last few days up to today so it seemed OK to nom this as an effort for today. Please ping me if I'm required to review half a dozen articles.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:29, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

  • Going to start going through these over the next day or so. IronGargoyle (talk) 23:00, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
  • Overall impression: I think these are very good overall. I found no concerns in any of the articles regarding policy (neutrality, copyright, all cite sources). Because this was a multi-article hook it made it a little bit more difficult to formulate how precisely to verify the hooks. My first step was to verify that the three painters whose works are in question were, in fact, "Skagen Painters". I verified that this was true in the article Skagen Painters (so this article is as it meets length and newness requirements [as a GA]). Then I attempted to verify that the paintings were, in fact, created by the painters listed (the key fact). I did this in the articles related to the specific paintings
  • Will He Round the Point? Artist verified. Article is new enough and long enough.
  • Hip, Hip, Hurrah! Not new enough, and is the most poorly verified without inline citations to the key fact. Is this a pending GA? Removed.
  • Sunlight in the Blue Room Assuming good faith that the book In Another Light verifies the identity of the painter. Article is new enough and long enough.
  • Summer Evening at Skagen Beach – The Artist and his Wife Artist verified. Article is new enough and long enough.
  • Midsummer Eve Bonfire on Skagen Beach Artist verified. Article is new enough and long enough.
  • Hook A suitable length given the multi-article nature. It is also interesting. Image copyright is not an issue.
  • QPQ You will need at least some QPQs. Likely not all 6, and the actual number will depend on the ultimate status of Hip, Hip, Hurrah!, but I will leave it to your determination which articles you have made substantive enough contributions to for them to be self-noms. IronGargoyle (talk) 00:40, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
  • QPQ is , and the new articles don't seem to add to the requirement in my opinion. IronGargoyle (talk) 11:08, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

@IronGargoyle: Thanks for the review! Note though that not all are self noms. OK, reviewed:

Is it OK to add Launching the Boat. Skagen (1884) and The North Sea in Stormy Weather (1909) to this?♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:19, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

Yes, they should be fine to add in my opinion. They will need to be checked both for artist membership in the Skagen Painters as well as verify that they are the creators of those paintings (along with all other DYK requirements). IronGargoyle (talk) 11:08, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
Now that there is an expanded hook, do we need to have an additional review in order to get the OK?--Ipigott (talk) 08:21, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

The two additional articles are OK too (Though I'd be stabbing myself in the eyes to avoid reading the "Background" section for the seventh time when I got to The North Sea). I don't think you need the dates in the hook (so I've removed them; sue me if you don't like it). Belle (talk) 23:47, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

  • Unfortunately because of overlaps in content some of the painting articles do fall short of the length requirements for original prose. Nikkimaria (talk) 04:26, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
I don't think we need to make a big thing out of that; it's not pure cut-and-paste, some thought has gone into varying it slightly depending on the subject and artist; Belle (talk) 07:27, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
