would it be more appropriate to explicitly state that the value of 500,000 is just an estimate? the article itself does not definitively state that the collection contains more than 500,000 items. the boston herald seems to do so, though i am skeptical since npr reported that the estimate was 300,000 just earlier that month. guinness also describes 500,000 as an estimate, and considering that they have only certified the value of 93,260, i am a bit wary about definitively using a number more than five times as large for the main page.

alt0a: ... that Rancho Obi Wan is estimated to contain more than 500,000 Star Wars collectibles?

I went with the Boston Herald as a reliable source which states a few of the more than 500,000 items — and growing, with 2,000 cubic feet of boxes yet to be sorted Bruxton (talk) 14:37, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Dying either would be fine imo - but both are supported by different sources, so either would work. (omg lol I forgot I was making a custom signature :{ ) AdmiralAckbar1977 (talk)(contribs) 15:05, 14 March 2023 (UTC) AdmiralAckbar1977 (talk)(contribs) 15:05, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Bruxton, i agree that the boston herald is generally a reliable source, but in this case, i am wondering if they got it wrong. this is one of those values that i assume no one at the boston herald had the time to independently verify, so it seems likely that they are just reprinting a value that sansweet reported to them.
the fact that npr reported the value of 300,000 is what rang alarm bells for me; it seems unlikely that the collection increased in size by 200,000 in less than a month, considering that the next largest collection has far fewer than 100,000 items. the fact that npr also stated that the collection had previously been larger, with an estimated 350,000 items, makes me believe that npr may have been more careful with their research. it's quite possible that the collection far exceeds 500,000 items now, since both the boston herald and npr sources were published about seven years ago, though this 2022 guinness source doesn't give an estimate beyond 500,000.
regardless, if you think the boston herald source is sufficient evidence for the current hook to run, i won't hold this up.
by the way, now that i have been taking a closer look at the sources, i've noticed that most, if not all, of them hyphenate "Obi-Wan". the article does too, except for the article title. AdmiralAckbar1977, is there a reason for this discrepancy? your contributions history suggests that you tried to move the page from your user space to "Rancho Obi-Wan" but couldn't because there was already a redirect there. should a move be requested and a hyphen be added to the hook? dying (talk) 15:42, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Pinging Dekimasu who knows a bit more about page moves and titles. Bruxton (talk) 15:56, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, @Dying, I did try to move it to Rancho Obi-Wan but found it impossible. I was going to request a move shortly after creating it but just up and forgot. I'll work on it now. AdmiralAckbar1977 talk contribs 16:06, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Done. AdmiralAckbar1977 talk contribs 16:26, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
oh, sorry, AdmiralAckbar1977! i had meant to suggest that you file a technical request, which is why i had linked to wp:rm/tr, as i am pretty sure that this is an uncontroversial technical request. i apologize for not having made that more clear. it's possible that a formal requested move will not close before the hook appears on the main page. i don't recall starting a formal requested move before, but i assume that it can be withdrawn before anyone comments on it. dying (talk) 16:38, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I pinged someone here to have a look, but now that you have placed a discussion template on the article it may be stalled out at DYK. Bruxton (talk) 17:02, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Jinx. I believe you owe me a Coca-Cola AdmiralAckbar1977 talk contribs 17:04, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Bruxton, @Dying, I've removed the move request from both the talk page and article. Is that sufficient? AdmiralAckbar1977 talk contribs 17:03, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Still there Rancho Obi Wan I will see if User:RoySmith can help with a name change. Bruxton (talk) 17:09, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A page mover has executed the move. Bruxton (talk) 15:05, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
looks good. thanks, all. dying (talk) 12:52, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
