Catchments for the rivers flowing into the Coral Sea

[edit]

The template breaks up the rivers flowing into the Coral Sea by a number of named catchments, but I cannot see what the basis is for these catchments and why some rivers end up in more than one. This is just confusing. The use of these region names is problematic as they are informally defined. Obviously the North-East drainage division (or rivers flowing into the Coral Sea) is quite large, but if we want to want to break it up, I think we need a more clear-cut criteria, such could be the Qld Govt's official drainage basins (there are 46 of them) or the local government area where they reach the sea (directly or indirectly in the case of tributaries) of which there about 22 (depending on how you count them). Or just do them north to south without groupings or do the groupings relative to well-known but precise places e.g. Cape York to Cairns, etc. Kerry (talk) 02:27, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
