Early life and education

Walti grew up in Canton Zurich, Switzerland. He came from an educated religious loving and caring family with professional vocation in the Church service. Mother Clara von Honnegger (married Zweifel) was devoted music lover and regarded with intuition during his childhood that Walti is blessed with unique performance talent for piano and pipe organ church music. He started playing the piano at the age of six. At the age of 17, he made his first cinematic film music organ live composition for the Suisse movie “Milky Way Reflections a la Bunuel beyond” with live pipe organ composition improvisation performing in the church for the cinematic young film art directors competition in Solothurn Film Days Festival. From the age of 16, Walti studied as the Organist at the Conservatory of Music in Switzerland, then graduated with Merit in 1980 at the Conservatory and Musikakademie in Zurich with Hans Vollenweider. Immediately after finishing the study he started working and travel on international musical & multimedia compositions and co-productions to explore himself as composer, arranger, sound designer and keyboardist to create and establish his own sound of pipe organ tune mastery techniques in several international recording studios.

Career

Since the 1990's Walti Zweifel Pattochi was exploring the “Arcanum Organum” of enigmatic sound design with theological heritage as “Francesco von Asisi” and the composition “Via Crucis” for pipe organ and orchestra.

The Sacred inspiration for Walti Zweifel Pattochi compositions for pipe organ is the Cathedral of Saint Lawrence (Cattedrale di San Lorenzo) in Lugano, Ticino, Switzerland where he is spending most of his precious time as Organist. The historical unique Cathedral of Saint Lawrence was founded in the High Middle Ages but rebuilt in the late 15th century, with the façade completed in 1517. It is the seat of the Diocese of Lugano, and dedicated to Saint Lawrence of Rome.
