Spence Shelton
[edit]Spence is the Small Groups Pastor at The Summit Church in Raleigh-Durham, NC. His role at the Summit consists primarily of two aspects. The first and most important is shepherding existing small groups towards spiritual health and maturity. The second is expanding the small group ministry through recruiting and training new leaders. God continues to burden Spence with the desire to see the people of the Summit, and of RDU, truly and lastingly transformed by the power of the gospel in its application to their lives.
He has published articles for SmallGroupTrader.com, SmallGroups.com, and Outreach Magazine on various aspects of small group life and regularly trains and consults for churches in discipleship methods and models.
Spence received a B.S. in business administration from UNC-Chapel Hill and a MDiv in Christian Ethics from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. After UNC, Spence worked in sales management before heading into the world of theological study. His cubicle years will always be fondly remembered and drawn upon countless times for teaching illustrations.
Known around the Triangle for his witty humor and dashing good looks, some might say that he is married out of his league to his wife Courtney. They have two boys who dominate his spare time. (כריס)
