I'm (1999-Present) an acting major student and musician attending EVCC. I've been at the college for 2 years now through running start, and decided while I was here that I would get started on my Film and Arts degree. I have played the guitar for 3 years, 4 years in February. I own two of them currently a Mitchell acoustic guitar and an Ibanez RG6003FM. I've been making my own films and videos for about 7 years now and fell in love with it which is why I decided to go for a Film and Arts degree at EVCC. I am currently writing a new web series for my channel on Youtube. As well as co-writing a play that will potentially show at the college in spring or fall quarter of this year.
Article Critique
[edit]I visited the Everett Christian School wikipedia page ,and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: It's lack of citations, it's lack of photos of the school, and it repeats already stated information.
Citations
[edit]Despite the fact that there isn't much information presented throughout the article, as this article is a stub, it would still be helpful to include citations to certain facts. For example there is a quote from the wiki page that states "Everett Christian School participates in the Tri-County League in the sports of soccer, basketball and track & field". However instead of citing a source that would prove this statement, such as a link to a document for sign ups for their sports program, it is left blank instead. This is also relevant to other statements for example the statement that it was established in 1926 is presented without a citation whatsoever as well.
Photos of the school
[edit]Another big issue found on this page is despite giving geographic coordinates, there is no pictures of the school on the wikipedia page. Which is very strange considering you can get a photo of the school from the schools website here http://www.everettchristian.org/ as it's on the front page of the website. While this may be a minor issue, it helps most people if they can see the school that the page is talking about in order for them to understand what kind of school it is.
Repeated Information
[edit]The third issue found on this page is it's repeated information for some bits that have already been stated before in the article. An example of this is "Established in 1926, it is run by the parents of its students, and provides education from preschool through the eighth grade". It states this very early on in the wiki page but repeats it almost immediately after the first paragraph is finished. In fact the very first sentence of the next paragraph is "Everett Christian School was established in 1926 by parents as the Society of Christian Schools in Everett" and even worse the second is "Since 1926, ECS has been educating children from Christian homes based in a Reformed Christian tradition". I personally feel as though stating the establishing date once is fine on it's own and that there are much more creative ways to introduce these other topics.
Summary
[edit]This page to me on a rating of terrible to fantastic is a strong underwhelming. The lack of citations makes it very difficult in order to believe the credibility of the article and shows lack of effort on the authors behalf. An abscence of photos leaves the reader wondering about what this school is even supposed to look like or represent. Finally constant repetition of information makes it seem as though whoever wrote the article couldn't think of anything else interesting to add into the page which makes the whole article fall flat in general.
