As DelmarvaScribe, I am a longtime Marylander, classical music enthusiast and semi-retired academic, now living on Maryland's Eastern Shore. I was curious about classical music available "in my own backyard." I began attending concerts performed by Maryland/Delaware's Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra (MSO). I noticed that there was no Wikipedia article for the MSO. On my own initiative, I started to search for background on the MSO and created an initial draft article in March, 2024. Several months of research later, in August, I began volunteering to support the orchestra in my local area.

COI Disclosure: In light of my personal interest in the MSO, and with helpful feedback by an experienced Wiki editor and an exemplar article (London Symphony Orchestra named a 'music good article'), I learned to follow Wikipedia's Conflict of interest (WP:COI) guidelines, to include the supporting Plain and simple conflict of interest guide (WP:PSCOI). As a new contributor to Wikipedia, my goal is to support Wikipedia as a neutral, well-referenced free encyclopedia. I have read (and re-read) Wikipedia's policies on neutral point of view, verifiability, reliable sources, puffery, marketing speak and original research. I aim to do my absolute best not to allow my own interests to supersede those of this or any other project, and will be receptive to feedback if I fall short.
