The designation for the chief executive for the city of Daytona Beach, Florida is mayor. The first mayor was elected in 1876. There is no set amount of time in which one person can stay as mayor, but it is up to the individual to financially support his or her own campaign.

On January 1, 1926 the separate towns of Daytona, Daytona Beach, and Seabreeze were merged into one, a measure called consolidation. Daytona (1876-1925) was the oldest and largest of the three communities, while Seabreeze (1901-1925) and Daytona Beach (1905-1925) were smaller. Ben Brass had been elected to serve in the office of mayor for the newly consolidated city government.
