Head of Lettuce is a term used when referring to the specific act in baseball when a bat has been broken during contact with the pitch resulting in the shattered pieces landing within the infield.[1] If the majority of the broken bat lands in fould territory or beyond the baserunning path of the infield, this is not considered a "Head of Lettuce"
