"Religions are like bras: Done wrong they bind and chafe you. Correctly fitted they support you perfectly, and I have several." - A wise friend of mine
Transsexuality is not a condition of the mind, it is a condition where the body does not match the mind. The only effective treatment of it is to alter the body to match the mind. People have tried for over a century to alter the mind to match the body, without significant result. I think that therapy is a useful adjunct to medical transition, but that the current WPATH Standards of Care still give far too much power and authority to the professionals rather than allowing a trans person the right to control her/his own body; and do not empower trans women to the same extent over their transitions that they do trans men.
Yes, I identify as both lesbian AND bisexual. Deal. ;)
I think that sex reassignment surgery should be available "on demand" and fully covered by health insurance without significant penalties vs. any other surgery normally used by women to increase their comfort with their bodies.
