µGalaksija is FPGA hardware remake of old Galaksija computer designed in 1983. Great care has been taken by authors of new µGalaksija that new hardware simulates old Galaksija hardware, so that it would be possible to run old software on a new design.
Overview of major µGalaksija features:
- small printed circuit size - micro Galaksija is much smaller due the small number of electronic components
- adjustable CPU speed from 4MHz (as original Galaksija computer) up to 25Mhz
- internal 8Kb operational RAM and 256Kb internal storage RAM.
- VGA port (Standard VGA 640x480/60Hz monitor can be used, original Galaksija used TV output)
- PS/2 Keyboard input (standard PC keyboard can be used - keys mapped to simulate original Galaksija keyboard)
- 3.5mm audio input/output (for tape recorded software, today, WAV files can be used from another computer instead of tapes, however it is intended that audio tapes can also be used)
- original ROM A and ROM B are included in the design
Additions to the original design feature display color change and saving memory snapshots to storage RAM. Original Galaksija had only B/W TV output.
