Kathleen Sloan is an American violinist based in Los Angeles, CA and a member of the Sonus Quartet. She is the sister of violinist Liz Sloan.

Early Life

Sloan grew up in a ranching family in Breckenridge, TX and began playing the violin at the age of three. Her sister is fiddle player, Liz Sloan. At 15, Sloan left home and enrolled in the Young Artist Program at the Cleveland Institute of Music where she completed high school while beginning her Bachelors of Music at the Cleveland Institute of Music under the tutelage of David Cerone. She later graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Southern California as a student of Los Angeles Philharmonic Concertmaster, Martin Chalifour.[1]

Career

Sloan was a member of the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet Orchestra from 2004 to 2009, and joined the Los Angeles based Sonus Quartet in 2008. She also served as Concertmaster for the Abilene Philharmonic for two seasons.[2]

Sloan has made appearances on The Grammys, The American Music Awards, The MTV Video Music Awards, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Ellen Show, The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien and American Idol.[2]

Touring

Sloan has toured with hip-hop artist Gnarls Barkley, pianist William Joseph, pop singer Josh Groban, and film composer Clint Mansell. She has also performed with Elton John, Rod Stewart, Natalie Cole, Stevie Wonder, Andrea Bocelli, Wynonna Judd, Carrie Underwood, Brian McKnight and Justin Timberlake.[2]
