Bio

Hello internet! Welcome to my User Page! I am a college student living in the wonderful Pacific Northwest. My hobbies include Fashion, Vintage clothing, the art of stage theatre, and learning more about my faith in Christ. I have grown up in the theatre industry and have done everything from acting to stage managing. That being said, my favorite part of the art is costuming. I have been dabbling in my passion for costume design for a few years now and have gotten some experience under my belt. I am currently working on building my own collection of costumes, documenting them, and building a platform to rent them out to companies in the future.

I am very excited to delve into the the world of Wikipedia and contribute my knowledge. Topics I see myself writing about include, theatre, Christianity, iconic people of fashion, innovation of the fashion industry and like subjects. I am excited to explore the world of Wikipedia and see what it has to offer.

Article Critique

Fashion is very important to me, especially keeping the integrity of its fashion styles. Fashion can change at the drop of a hat, and it is important to have the proper information to document those style changes. I visited the “1930-1945 in Western fashion” page on Wikipedia and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the lack of important information, sloppy layout, and missing citations.

Lack of Information

The 1930-1945 in Western fashion Wikipedia page is missing more information about the L-85 restrictions. These restrictions changed how fashion was made during the second world war and was a way of rationing for the war efforts. The L-85 restrictions were mentioned in the article; however, it did not give any examples to what the restrictions entailed and how they affected fashion.

Sloppy Layout

The article layout was pretty sloppy. The headings and subheadings where not always listed. This made it very difficult to find specific information. In addition to that, history in regard to fashion is typically broken down into decades. This page includes 1930 to 1945. This makes it very problematic in separating the different styles. The style of the 1930’s hangs onto a bit of the 1920’s. As fashion progresses into the 1940’s the styles of the 1920’s dies down to create its own iconic fashion. Because of the different styles, separating the decades would also make it much easier in the research process. 

Missing Citations

There were a few missing citations located in this article. First, there is a “needed citation” note in the first paragraph. Secondly, going down to the “War years” section, the “nylon riots” (source number 21) link is outdated and has been shut down. Also, the third citation issue is located just a paragraph down. Source number 22 has also been closed and needs a new source inserted here.

Whether it is lacking important information, sloppy layout, or missing citation, it is important to update the 1930-1945 in Western fashion page to rightly depict the fashions of that period.
