Base Flipping of DNA
[edit]This is a phenomenon in which individual DNA bases can be flipped out from the double helix to provide access to enzymes to perform their catalytic function. This is possible due to contribution of many local and global structural changes such as sugar-phosphate backbone dihedral angles and helical axis bends.[4] By using this flipping technique, enzymes can perform methylation to repress transcription or even remove damaged DNA bases.[5]
