MADiSON is a first-person horror videogame developed and distributed by the Argentine company Bloodious Games.[1] It was released on July 8, 2022 for Microsoft Windows (via Steam, GOG and Epic) and for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One y Xbox Series X/S consoles.[2] The Nintendo Switch version was released on August 26, 2022[3]

Gameplay

[edit]

MADiSON focuses on the use of an instant camera to connect the world of the living with that of the dead. In this way, the player will use the camera throughout the story to solve puzzles, discover secrets that cannot be seen with the naked eye, drive away demonic entities, among others. The video game takes place mainly inside a large house, but the player will go through different scenarios, such as a church and underground tunnels, as can be seen in the trailers.[4][5]

Plot

[edit]

What would you do if you woke up locked in a dark room, with your hands covered in blood? Play as Luca, and endure the brute torture of MADiSON, a demon that has forced him to continue a gory ritual started decades ago, making him commit abominable acts. Will you be able to finish this sinister ceremony?[6]

Development

[edit]

The game began development in 2016, but was announced through a demo released on itch a year later.[7] This demo was very well received by users, surpassing 100,000 downloads on the platform. The studio continued with the development of the video game and finally in 2021 announced its launch for PC through a trailer. Presenting the second trailer a month later on Gamescom, they revealed the official release date after 5 years of development, confirming that the game would be out on January 7, 2022.[8][9][10]

The studio postponed the release date to June 24, 2022, citing inconvenience in publishing the game under the previously used trade name.[11]

The development of a version of the video game for consoles was confirmed and its launch is expected for the same date as the PC version.[12] It will be published on PS5, PS4 y Xbox Series X/S, with a possible release also on Nintendo Switch around a month later and a physical edition in some countries.[13]

It is finally postponed one last time, dated July 08, 2022, the day the game is officially released.

MADiSON is among the "Top 20 July Releases on Steam" and "Top Releases From New Devs".[14]
