Bissau Palace Hotel

[edit]

@Dr. Blofeld: @Rosiestep: Could not find any text to add to Bissau Palace Hotel. Created an article on Bissau Palace Hotel, Jaipur. May like to edit.--Nvvchar. 05:31, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

I'm done editing Bissau Palace Hotel, Jaipur. @Dr. Blofeld: when you're done, please suggest a hook. --Rosiestep (talk) 16:19, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

...that although a hotel, Bissau Palace Hotel, Jaipur contains displays of jewelery, weapons, sculptures of elephants, vases, and photographs which include that of a tiger shikar scene and of Lord Mountbatten visiting the Royal family of Bissau?♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:38, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

Coffee

[edit]

I'm not sure if you're keeping an eye on the Intertranswiki project's Stub Focus, but I've started these (and the rest tonight). --Rosiestep (talk) 14:21, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

@Rosiestep: @Dr. Blofeld:. I have completed my inputs to all 10 articles. But there are no coffee plantains in Uruguay and hence I have covered the import aspects and popular coffee brands in use in the country. It is short by a few ch. Could not find references to the tagged texts in the Guadeloupe article except for one tag. Text from the last reference I have used could be provide some info to remove some of the unreferenced tagged texts. Even if some sentences are removed artcile will still be more 1500 ch. --Nvvchar. 05:22, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Very good, Char. Uruguay: I noted the same things as you -- Uruguay does not produce coffee so should we change the title to Coffee consumption in Uruguay, or delete it? I've seen some information on coffee production in Ivory Coast (started the article), Cameroon and Sri Lanka, so they need articles. Can you think of other coffee-producing countries we should cover? --Rosiestep (talk) 13:41, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Rosiestep: Yes. It should be renamed as Coffee consumption in Uruguay. Are you proposing to post them on DYK since they are all above 1500ch. I will add some text to the 3 new ones. I am also active on the mining articles. --Nvvchar. 14:39, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
  • Yes, let's get them nomed. I'll circle back to each of them tomorrow. @Dr. Blofeld: which ones are ready? Also, gentlemen, please suggest hooks, as I think these will be individual noms, unless it makes sense to double up somewhere. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:15, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Rosiestep:@Dr. Blofeld:. I have the following suggestions for the 13 articles, some with pictures, to be posted on DYK on different dates.Guadeloupe article needs editing to remove the tags.--Nvvchar. 15:40, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

I'll try to edit them all tomorrow.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:42, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

I removed the uncited content from Guadeloupe. Guam is mostly PD; I don't think there's 1500 ch of new content yet. --Rosiestep (talk) 19:08, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Rosiestep:@Dr. Blofeld:.Both Guadeloupe and Guam have much more than 1500 ch. and can be posted on DYK. --Nvvchar. 23:33, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
  • Char, but do they have >1500 non-PD content? --Rosiestep (talk) 17:29, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Char & @Dr. Blofeld: I've expanded/improved the Template:Coffee production using 2014 data, adding lists, etc. Added redlinks to the template and above list for two additional articles to round out the 2014 Top 20, Peru and Thailand. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:29, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, I miss the brown theme though ;-(♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:35, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

@Dr. Blofeld: I didn't know how to keep the brown theme. When I added the divisions, they showed up light brown. When I added the bottom link, that bar was light blue. It looked like a mess. I couldn't figure out how to make them all the same, and thought about bugging you to do it, but decided instead to just go with the default. If you can make them all brown, please do! It would probably be good to change Template:Coffee to brown, too. --Rosiestep (talk) 19:03, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Due

[edit]

8th June

I've edited the first three, Char and Rosie, can you find something actually about modern production in Martinique though? It's currently too short after I cut much of the PD source.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:43, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Yes, I'll complete my edits to Puerto Rico tonight and will nom two of them.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:46, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
Nommed two and edited the two above. Rosiestep can you nom these two?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:07, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
Done. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:29, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

9th June

...that Guadeloupe has a long tradition of coffee growing (pictured) which is now being rediscovered due to ecotourism?

  • @Dr. Blofeld: This needs your input for nomination today.--Nvvchar. 13:14, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
Ref 7, can't verify.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:25, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Rosiestep:, Can you locate this Ref 7 from your records?--Nvvchar. 15:39, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
I like the hook but the ecotourism sentence needs an inline citation --Rosiestep (talk) 02:10, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Rosiestep: Same problem finding the reference. May be a shortened hook or a different hook would be in order.--Nvvchar. 02:53, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
  • I found a reference for it! Nomed Guadeloupe. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:54, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

10th June

... that in the 20th century Guam, coffee was one of the commonest plants, growing about most of the dwelling houses as lilac bushes grow in America?

  • This fact was noted in the 19th century, but I'm unclear if it is still the case over 100 years later. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:36, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Rosiestep:, I can't find anything more on Guam. Hence, I have qualified the hook text with 20th century. Pl see if it is acceptable.--Nvvchar. 15:39, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
  • Nomed it.

11th June

...that Coffee consumption in Uruguay relies on imports as there are no coffee plantations in the country?

  • I'm going to pass on this one. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:04, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

...that Ivory Coast is one of the largest robusta producers in the world?

...that Coffee production in Sri Lanka (pictured) of arabica, occurred in the 1660s with seeds probably originating from Yemen?

  • Char, can you please add the Reddy 2003 ref to the Bibliography section, and then remove the tag at the top of the article? --Rosiestep (talk) 18:34, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

...that Coffee production in Cameroon (pictured) is important as it is grown extensively in the country, with robusta more prevalent in the coastal areas and arabica more prevalent in the western highlands?

  • Nice.--Nvvchar. 03:28, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Dr. Blofeld:@Rosiestep:In case you have completed editing these four articles, they need to be nominated today.--Nvvchar. 14:38, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
  • Can you please do the noms? I am travelling and encountered unexpected flight delays. Thank you. --Rosiestep (talk) 05:18, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
  • Also, a friendly suggestion, you may want to remove Dr. B's name from the credits of articles he didn't work on as that practice is frowned upon at DYK. And, we know to add our name to the credits if we choose to work on an article after it's nomed. --Rosiestep (talk) 17:38, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I'll pass on those ones if it's OK.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:08, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

13th

Due on 13th June

... that in Peru (pictured), the Coffea arabica is the dominant crop grown in 70% of the area, followed by caturra 29% area and other varieties in balance area?

  • This adds up to 109%. Is this due to overlapping regions maybe? --Rosiestep (talk) 19:38, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Rosiestep: It could be just 1%. Suggest correct as balance in other varieties.--Nvvchar. 20:03, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

...that Coffee production in Thailand (pictured) was 50,000 tons during 2013 with a world ranking of 18?

  • @Rosiestep: The above two are due for nomination today. Dr. Bloefld has not edited them yet and is on a holiday. --Nvvchar. 02:30, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

I've edited the above two.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:33, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

Char and @Dr. Blofeld: I have to run off to a family event and unsure if I'll be back online today. Can someone please nom these? --Rosiestep (talk) 18:56, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Rosiestep:Can you pl tell me which tool to use to strike out a hook?--Nvvchar. 01:52, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
  • Here you go: <s></s>! And here's an example of how it'll look. It's available to me in the Wiki markup group (above Edit Summary). --Rosiestep (talk) 02:24, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Is it going to get re-reviewed or something? I am new to dyk so i don't know about the process. I thought it is interesting fact so I submitted it for dyk. If it is selected, when will it appear on main page? Supdiop talk 07:26, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

St Barths

[edit]

Can you expand this another for DYK Île Frégate. Google the nature reserve which it's known for.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:56, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

@Dr. Blofeld: None of the references (not even ref1) link Île Frégate to the St Barths Nature Reserve. I have added text to the reserve but the title of the article needs to be changed.--Nvvchar. 14:06, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
Google maps does though, that's a reliable source.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:09, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

@Rosiestep: Last day to nom Île Frégate.♦ Dr. Blofeld 05:58, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Char and @Dr. Blofeld: Started working on it but have to run. I'll return to it later today. Note the ref I found which says the reserve covers the 4 islands, so I think the reserve has to be its own article. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:00, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
Char and @Dr. Blofeld: Argh! The island and the reserve do need to be split. Here's the home page of Réserve naturelle nationale de Saint-Barthélemy and from it, you can get to reserve's map, which identifies the protected areas of the reserve. --Rosiestep (talk) 21:00, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

  • @Rosiestep: I thought you had done a wonderful job by including the Reseerve's details with the Île Frégate. I nominated it a few hours back. It is now less than 1000 ch. Can you do something to restore the situation. Thanks.--Nvvchar. 21:45, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
  • Char and @Dr. Blofeld: The reserve clearly had to be split from the island article. I've expanded the island article and the character count is fine. The reserve article parallels the one in the French wiki. Can you please add the IUCN box to the reserve? I've reworded the nom to include both articles. --Rosiestep (talk) 22:13, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

1630

[edit]

There seems to be something odd happening involving us at Template:Did you know nominations/Lees Creek (Lackawanna River). Can you or Rosie see what is wrong?♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:48, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Char and @Dr. Blofeld: Looks like someone thinks 1 QPQ was credited against 2 articles, but I can't figure out which is which and what is what, although it does point to Template:Did you know nominations/1630 Crete earthquake for which I just added ALT2 (removing Cretica Chronica). Clueless if this helps with the Lees Creek issue though. --Rosiestep (talk) 23:38, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Peanuts

[edit]

I started Peanut production in China, don't know if you want to add enough for a DYK.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:33, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Yes, I want to work on this but there are so many other articles being mentioned on Char's page, my head is spinning. I guess I need to type faster... or immobilize my head... lol! --Rosiestep (talk) 23:38, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Gambier Islands

[edit]

User:Nvvchar/Rikitea might be a good one to do. It has a nice cathedral, St Michael's which might have enough for its own article too.♦ Dr. Blofeld 06:08, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

@Rosiestep:@Dr. Blofeld: Done both User:Nvvchar/Rikitea and St. Michael's Cathedral, Rikitea. Could not find the coordinates for both.--Nvvchar. 23:46, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
Char and @Dr. Blofeld: I finished my edits to both articles. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:49, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Started User:Nvvchar/Grégoire I, we could do a triple hook ...that St. Michael's Cathedral in Rikitea in the Gambier Islands contains the tomb of Grégoire I...? ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:14, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

It made sense to do the three, but we do have rather a lot of articles to get through, so no worries if not.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:35, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Moved it to the mainspace, please move User:Nvvchar/Rikitea to the mainspace too and nom once done as a triple as suggested.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:52, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
@Dr. Blofeld:Would it be more appropriate to title this article Maputeoa since he was a Polynesian monarch and Gregoire was only his baptismal name like Aleamotuʻa who was named Josiah. --KAVEBEAR (talk) 16:57, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

These are all in mainspace now: Maputeoa, Rikitea, and St. Michael's Cathedral, Rikitea. Char, there is a reference tag in Rikitea named "Carlson", but it doesn't point to anything; it appears you added it; can you locate the URL and flesh out the reference? I'll deal with the triple nom. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:15, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

  • @Rosiestep: I have fixed the reference now. You can nominate the articles, pl.--Nvvchar. 02:34, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Nom: Template:Did you know nominations/Maputeoa, Rikitea, St. Michael's Cathedral, Rikitea. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:04, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

@Rosiestep: @Nvvchar: @Dr. Blofeld: Would either three of you be interested in creating short articles (doesn't have to be DYK) for Honoré Laval and François Caret (I have images of these two men on the Wiki Commons) since they were important figures in the introduction of Catholicism in the South Pacific, not just in Mangareva but also in Tahiti where they were caused the diplomatic crisis between the French and Tahitian Queen Pomare IV? I have a nice source for Caret here. And maybe high priest Matua too, but I don't know if there is not much on him that is not French and hard to search.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 06:22, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

@KAVEBEAR: @Dr. Blofeld:, Char: I've started Honoré Laval. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:36, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

  • @Dr. Blofeld: It is only for the Ross Island Penal Colony and not for Ross Island.--Nvvchar. 13:09, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

No, what I mean is what entity would it be listed in the A-Z under?♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:22, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Perhaps we could have one for Andaman Islands in the A-Z?♦ Dr. Blofeld 06:56, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Is it an expansion or new article? It looks way too long for what we agreed on. The lede alone is nearing minimum DYK length!♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:39, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Dr. Blofeld: Right in the beginning I mentioned that it is going to be long article. As we did expand this Puerto Baquerizo Moreno to 5x I thought you would want to do this also. It is a new article.--Nvvchar. 22:03, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

@Rosiestep:@Dr. Blofeld:. Expanded substantially. But still short by 1600 ch. You may like to add and edit now.--Nvvchar. 03:42, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
I cut the climate in the main article as it's unsourced so should be OK now. By the looks of it though it needs a trim in places, but expanding the lede should do it. Will look tomorrow.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:13, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
I've finished my edits. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:27, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
Hope you both don't mind but I've pasted the sandbox article into the main article without a page move because if we imported the page history it wouldn't have been a five time expansion, as I removed the unsourced climate info later. I mentioned both your names in the expansion summary though.♦ Dr. Blofeld 07:23, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

@Rosiestep: @Dr. Blofeld: Please see this Darwin's Arch to further expand and edit. It is still short of 1500 ch.--Nvvchar. 01:28, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

I have completed my edits on Darwin's Arch. Note that the coords in the scuba diving section are pointing to a place west of Sumatra. As the coords are imbedded in the section, I'm not sure if the whole section needs to be removed, or just the coords need to be fixed. I've added the correct coords in the Ref section. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:44, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

Char and @Dr. Blofeld: The Thyssen blog citation and the sentences related to it need to be removed. I would say the same for ref 7, the http://www.borrett.id.au/ one? --Rosiestep (talk) 14:21, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Rosiestep:I have removed the text and the reference which the reviewer has pointed out. But removing the other reference will need change of hook and also sentences in the lead which I have refrained from doing. Pl see.--Nvvchar. 16:17, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
  • I removed the borrett reference and sentence. Can you please re-word the Arc de Triomphe sentence as it doesn't read right, and I can't view the reference here in the US? Do you think we would want to include it as a quirky alt hook? --Rosiestep (talk) 01:46, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Rosiestep: Corrected. Sentences in the lead need to be changed. As the text related to the earlier quirky hook has been deleted, may be a simple hook should be Ok.--Nvvchar. 02:41, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Rosiestep: Thanks. On the Coffee production in Martinique coffee article I have added production details for 2013 from FAO. You may like to see if more info can be added from the these two references [1] and [2], I am not sure if the latter is a blog.
  • The FAO ref and content are fine. Unfortunately, the quora.com and the spilling-the-beans.net refs are not RS; we can't use these. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:31, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
  • The kuam.com ref and the content you added are good. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:31, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

You should create a nav box linking all 108.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:42, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

I've created Template:Mukhya Upanishads. I think side templates tend to clutter articles and Template:Upanishads should be merged into the foot one.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:33, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

  • Yes, definitely.--Nvvchar. 14:37, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

I hope you are doing well sir. The Nabakalebara festival of Jagannath at Puri is underway. It happens once in 20 years. Over 50 lakh people are expected this time. The article covering this times festival is out of date. As many events of deep and complicated significance are occuring on a daily basis, can you please help update the Nabakalebara 2015 page it is out of date. Your expertise on the subject is urgently needed thanks Sidsahu (talk) 11:03, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

  • @Sidsahu: Please provide citations to the programme items, even if they are In Oriya and also imgaa\es if possible of various events starting with Banajaga Yatra--Nvvchar. 19:25, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Sidsahu: I have completed the article. Please see if anything is missing. It can posted on DYK on 29th to appear on Suna Besha day. I have also started this Banajaga Yatra, which can be posted separately. Can you find some picture for this?--Nvvchar. 20:27, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

Yup. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:21, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

Guinea article:

  • Char, the "Series 2012" ref which you added early on in the article development displays as: "Harv error: link from #CITEREFSeries2012 doesn't point to any citation." Can you please add the ref into the Bib? --Rosiestep (talk) 01:38, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Rosiestep: It is a pdf reference and not a book reference. I have fixed the harv error but it still does not point to the ref in bibliography. Can you pl see what the problem is?--Nvvchar. 02:56, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
  • Thanks. It's fine now. --Rosiestep (talk) 03:41, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Hmm, for Swaziland Char you say " Letseng, Mothae, and Kao" Letsang and Kao are surely in Lesotho?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:33, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

I've sorted it out now I think.♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:16, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Char and @Dr. Blofeld: the mining articles are ready for nom. Please suggest hook(s). --Rosiestep (talk) 23:30, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
Char and @Dr. Blofeld: Here's an option that's a bit quirky as it doesn't start with "that" and it's within the 200 character count! Hook1: ... what types of mining activity occur in

Guinea, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Senegal, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, and Uganda (pictured)? --Rosiestep (talk) 02:48, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

  • @Rosiestep: Excellent. I was searching for various options. Could not find any. I think you found the right one and quirky one at that. For each extra artcile the ch counts go up by 25 ch as per DYK rules. Hence, you can use "that" also. But how to find a reference for the hook? How about this ALT1.... that various types of mining activity in .... contribute to the Gross Domestic Product of their respective countries to boost the economy?--Nvvchar. 04:03, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
Yes, fine.♦ Dr. Blofeld 06:12, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
Char and @Dr. Blofeld: I'm working on the nom, but help... why aren't they appearing on {{tl|Mining in Africa}}? --Rosiestep (talk) 17:23, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Thanks, @Rosiestep:. The template needs to be moved to DYK page. I will do a few QPQs.--Nvvchar. 17:37, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

Nom: Template:Did you know nominations/Mining industry of Guinea. --Rosiestep (talk) 18:09, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

Marquesas

[edit]

I don't want to add more work to the load hehe but Nvv you might be interested in getting on with expanding Hane, Marquesas Islands a bit for 1500 ch and starting Wood carving in the Marquesas Islands while Rosie and I go through the mining articles over the next few days. Hane has to be nommed within two days though.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:04, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

@Dr. Blofeld: Could not find much to add to Woodcarving in the Marquesas Islands to make up 1500ch.--Nvvchar. 17:05, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Nommed Hane. OK, I'll stub Woodcarving with what I can find then and Hane can be our A-Z entry.♦ Dr. Blofeld 07:02, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

I've managed to get Wood carving in the Marquesas Islands to minimum length, you and Rosiestep might find a bit more from the bottom of page 2 onwards.♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:45, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

Cool, nice pics too.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:38, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Coffee production in Guadeloupe

[edit]

Char and @Dr. Blofeld: I just spent 2.5 hours re-working this one. Several other coffee articles also have issues which we need to deal with. Before we move the mining articles to mainspace, let's make sure they are as spot on as possible so we avoid extra work later on. If that means cutting back an article to 1501 char, so be it. Sir , How much I have to expand to make this article for DYK duting Sunabesa.-- Sailesh Patnaik (Talk2Me|Contribs) 07:33, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

  • @Saileshpat: The prose is about 1214 ch without bulletted items. It has to be raised to 6200 ch prose only. I don't think you can find so much text for this subject.--Nvvchar. 09:48, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @Saileshpat:Convert all the bullteeted text into prose format with reliable references. Also add from some of the references I have used in my article Nabakalebara 2015. I will also see if we can find some more book references.--Nvvchar. 14:30, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
