Christian James Kenneth McLeish (born April 24, 2001) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre (ice hockey). He is currently an alternate captain with the Calgary Buffaloes of the Alberta Midget Hockey League (AMHL). Best known for his wrist shots, McLeish put up big offensive statistics in his early Bow Valley career and was recognized for it.

Playing career

[edit]

McLeish played competitive ice hockey for most of his timbits, novice, atom, and peewee career, with him taking a break for the upcoming bantam division. With his play being recognized from around the world, he was called up by the Calgary Buffaloes to play on behalf of the team as their second line centerman. After recording a record-breaking season, the Calgary Hitmen drafted him 150th overall to play in the WHL for the 2014-15 WHL season.

After taking a break from the sport in 2016-17, McLeish was reacquired by the Calgary Hitmen to play with them in the 2017-18 season. He is yet to make his season debut, as he is currently playing with the Bow Valley Flames again.

International play

[edit]

After being signed by the Calgary Hitmen, McLeish debuted for Team Canada at the 2015 U14 Championships as the host country. He recorded 6 points in 7 games as Canada went on to win a gold medal.

McLeish was then on the roster for the 2016 World Juniors but was cut following his absence from hockey that season.

Off-season

[edit]

During the off-season, Christian plays ball hockey in his hometown of Calgary. He also plays with his former team, the Bow Valley Flames, if they are in need of skaters during the playoff season.
