About Me
[edit]- Born in London, lived in Islington until the age of 12 then moved to St Albans.
- Achieved a 2.1 BA (Hons) in Theatre and Performance at the Scarborough Campus, University of Hull.
- I'm a Theatre Director, tech enthusiast and human rights & environmental activist.
Education
[edit]- Beaumont School (2002-2009)
- University of Hull Scarborough Campus studying Theatre and Performance. (2010-2013)
Wikipedia Presence
[edit]As part of a module at University called "Applied and Interactive Theatre" we have to engage with the Wikipedia community and create an article on a cyberformance group. I'm currently working on creating a page on the Plaintext Players [1] which was started by Antoinette LaFarge. Being a complete novice any help would be much appreciated in regards to references/style and so on.
Current Work & Previous Work
[edit]In my past experience as a director I've had the good fortune of being allowed to work on various projects despite being at such an early point in my career including:
- The Immorality Play by Sam Went at the Abbey Theatre St Albans
- Regina vs Cooper by Katie McCullough for St Albans Art Festival
- Out Of The Garden by Joe Berwick at University of Hull Scarborough Campus
- The Scarborough Witch Trials by Joe Berwick [1]
- Cheaper Seats Clap Your Hands by Will Howells [2]
Currently at university I am undertaking my dissertation, amongst other modules, which focuses on raises the question of what actually denotes the "duration" of a piece of performance and hopes to play with the strict constrictions we adhere to when thinking about "time", does breakfast have to be a meal eaten before midday or is it merely the first meal we consume?
Outside of the curricular I am very lucky to get the chance to help produce and direct various performances as part of the university theatre society and my independently run theatre company, Irresponsible Decorators.
National Student Drama Festival
[edit]During 2011 I worked as a volunteer at the National Student Drama Festival then again in 2012 when the festival took an international approach in tandem with the 2012 Summer Olympics. This year I have volunteered took take on the responsibility of a managerial role using my experience to help improve the festival from an organisation viewpoint, student experience and even that of visiting artists. In an age where there are so many cuts to arts funding and in an environment which is notoriously difficult to get employment in this festival offers an amazing opportunity for students to not only interact with their peers but also learn from industry specialists, hopefully gathering contacts as they go along.
