Angles is the fourth studio album by garage rock band The Strokes, which will be released on March 21, 2011 internationally and a day later in the United States.
The album was recorded in guitarist Albert Hammond, Jr.'s apartment and produced by themselves, except for "Life Is Simple", which was recorded with producer Joe Chiccarelli.[1]
Bassist Nikolai Fraiture revealed that the album would be "a return to the basics", suggesting the songs will be a of similar style to their first album, Is This It[2] It will be their first album since the release of First Impressions of Earth in 2006, their longest gap to date between two consecutive studio albums. After touring in support of First Impressions of Earth, The Strokes went on an extended hiatus in 2007[3] and then regrouped two years later to begin writing new material for a fourth album.[4]
Rolling Stone praised Angles, saying "[it's] the best album since Is This It." In the same article, Hammond explained the album title, saying "It's what the record sounds like. It comes from five different people."[5]
