Ramon F. Garcia & Company, CPAs
[edit]Ramon F. Garcia & Company, CPAs (RFGCO) is an accounting and consultancy firm from the Philippines, providing a wide array of services revolving around five accounting and finance areas: Audit, Tax, Risk, Advisory, and Outsourcing.
RFGCO, one of the Registered Public Accounting Firms in the Philippines [1], has been in the accounting and consultancy industry for 43 years. Aside from its employees, the roster of the firm’s clients is diverse, providing services from automobiles, chemicals, and construction to education, real estate, and media.
History
[edit]After his 4 year stint with Carlos J. Valdes and Co and working with Coopers and Lybrand, Mr. Ramon F. Garcia decided to pursue his dream of having his own firm and founded Ramon F. Garcia & Company, CPAs, also known as Crowe Philippines, on March 1, 1981.[2]
Before being officially named Ramon F. Garcia & Company, CPAs (Crowe Philippines), on August 1, 1982, to sustain the firm, Mr. Ramon invited his brother Josefino Garcia, along with his former colleagues from Carlos J. Valdes and Co.—Luis Noli De Castro, Carlo Magno dela Cruz, and Maximino Flores Jr.—the Garcia, De Castro and Company partnership was forged. [2]
In 1988, it was only then that the firm’s current name was officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission.[3]
Founder
[edit]Born on December 15, 1954, Mr. Ramon F. Garcia is a graduate of Commerce with a Major in Accounting at Far Eastern University. Mr. Garcia was a working student sent to school by his elder brothers, juggling both academics and work at a young age.
When he passed the CPA licensure exam in 1977, Mr. Garcia joined Carlos J. Valdes & Co. Not long after, on February 28, 1981, he departed the firm and immediately built his own the next day, March 1, 1981.
Growth
[edit]The firm’s first-ever office was a rented apartment with only a box of calling cards, a ream of letterhead, and a borrowed table. Until it was able to hire staff and eventually was able to accommodate interns from PUP who later became employees.
After having their first client—Philippine Orchard Corporation—and more clients seeking their services, the firm decided to move from their 2-story apartment in Bangkal, Makati, to the ADC Building in Ayala Avenue, Makati City.
From 1984 to 1993, the firm expanded their reach and explored the IT industry, resulting in the creation of the Information Systems Service Division (ISSD), which was renamed Ramon F. Garcia Consultancy, Inc. in the late 1990s, then First Serv IT, Inc. in 2000, until it was combined with the firm’s accounting consultancy group known as Crowe Philippines Consultancy, Inc.
In 2003, the firm moved to its current office location in Burgundy Corporate Tower at 252 Sen. Gil J. Puyat Ave. Makati, occupying 2 offices, each on the 27th and 30th floors.
Ramon F. Garcia & Company, CPAs, have two other branches in the country aside from its main branch in Makati, serving a wider range of people. The Baguio branch opened last 2019[4] while the Cebu branch was inaugurated last November 26, 2022 at Marco Polo Hotel together with the celebration of its 41st year in the industry. [5]
Currently, the firm has over 180+ employees and 7 industry expert partners—Mr. Ramon F. Garca, Mr. Josefino F. Garcia, Ms. Honorata L. Paguio, Ms. Lilibeth I. Samonte, Ms. Aileen B. Valenzuela, Mr. Christopher D. Alcantara, and Atty. Jordan Fresco.[6]
In 2013, Ramon F. Garcia & Company, CPAs was able to partner with Yusei Audit and Co. [7] expanding areas for business for both of the mentioned firms.
Crowe Global Membership
[edit]Ramon F. Garcia & Company, CPAs, in an attempt to widen their reach, became an affiliate of Crowe Horwath[2], and in 2008, they became a full-blown member of Crowe Global (formerly known as Crowe Horwath). [2]
