The Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad (reporting mark CNSM), commonly known as the North Shore Line, was an interurban railroad in the U.S. states of Illinois and Wisconsin. Trains operated over the Chicago "L" system from Roosevelt Road to Howard Street, before continuing north over parallel main lines to Waukegan, Illinois; from there service continued on to Kenosha, Racine and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A branch line also extended from Lake Bluff to Mundelein, Illinois.
Several examples of North Shore Line rolling stock are preserved in railroad museums or private collections, and the former Dempster Street Station is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Since 1964, the Chicago Transit Authority has operated the Yellow Line service over the former main line from Chicago to Skokie, Illinois.
