I should hope no one actually reads these dumb things. Nonetheless, I'm in the National Guard operating through SMP as an ROTC cadet living in eastern Iowa with an interest in linguistics, history, and military science, the two former I plan on majoring in, the latter minoring. Enough said.
After taking 4 years of German in school I'm reasonably qualified to converse in German on a day to day level, so long as they're not using weird technical terms. Needless to say, I blew off most of my German homework and instead learned Platt (or, at least my family's dialect) as best as I could muster (I'm a Dutch-Prussian hybrid). I could probably speak Dutch if I bothered to sit down and look at it for a bit, as if you know English and German (let alone Platt, which is basically Dutch, from what I undestand) you can easily put together Dutch. I've recently taken an interest in the languages of antiquity, though I've definitely neglected Latin in favor for Ancient Greek.
