User:Tim!/2006 in Doctor Who
This is a list of events related to the long running British science fiction television series Doctor Who.
After his first appearance in the 2005 Christmas special, The Christmas Invasion, David Tennant appeared for his first full series as the Tenth Doctor. Billie Piper remained as companion Rose Tyler for the whole series before leaving in the season finale, Doomsday. The Cybermen appeared for the first time since 1988's Silver Nemesis in the two parter Rise of the Cybermen and The Age of Steel. The series ended with a dramatic confrontation between two of the Doctor's oldest enemies, the Daleks and the Cybermen — the first time the two had crossed swords.
A second Christmas special entitled The Runaway Bride is due to be broadcast on Christmas Day, and the spin-off series Torchwood is scheduled to debut in the autumn. After the appearance of two old companions, Sarah Jane Smith and K-9, in April's School Reunion, two other spin-off series have been announced: K-9 Adventures and Sarah Jane Investigates.
