My day job is programming and managing internet and other software technologies to create services for clients.

I'm interested in education, and am involved in a local school, as the Chair of the "Governing Body" of the school (this is a body in the UK that's a bit like a (US) School Board, but only for one school, and is fully voluntary)

My academic background is three degrees - linguistics, Modern Greek poetry, Fine Art, with abiding interests in languages (Modern Greek, Russian, Mediaeval Welsh, French, Chinese, and keep picking up smatterings of other stuff (Spanish, Italian, Bulgarian) along the way -- and literature.

However, what motivates me to sign up to Wikipedia is to help out with some of the footnote checking, when it occurs to me...
