NCRIC
[edit]Cricket figures are presumed to merit an article if they meet the following:
- Players who have played in a Test match.
- Players who have played in a One Day International match for a team with permanent ODI status.
- Players who have played in a T20I match for a team that was granted permanent T20I status before 26 April 2018 by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
- Players who, since 1979, have played in a match in one of the following tournaments: Cricket World Cup, Women's Cricket World Cup, ICC Men's T20 World Cup, ICC Women's T20 World Cup, or World Cricket League Championship/Division One.
- Umpires who are or have been members of the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires.
Note: For the purposes of this guideline, "played" means having appeared in a match either in the starting lineup or by joining it as a full substitute. Other cricket figures, including youth players, are unlikely to merit an article unless they can be shown to meet the wider requirements of WP:GNG.
Other cricket subjects are presumed to merit an article if they meet the following:
- Grounds that have hosted a match between teams meeting the above criteria 1–4.
- Competitions, tournaments and tours involving teams meeting the above criteria 1–3, and the principal domestic FC, LA and T20 competitions in those countries.
- Teams, clubs and franchises competing in domestic competitions as detailed above.
Notes
- Wide-ranging databases, such as Cricinfo and CricketArchive profiles, scorecards and match reports do not in themselves qualify as WP:SIGCOV unless:
- profiles contain a substantial biographical summary
- match reports include substantial discussion of the subject, not just routine activity during the match
- Articles not meeting these new guidelines should be merged to an appropriate team list or tagged {{notability}} for a minimum of 6 months to allow the opportunity for WP:SIGCOV to be found before being listed at WP:AFD.
- Lists of achievements (e.g. centuries, five-wicket hauls, etc.) to be merged/kept within the main (biography/ground) article unless there are WP:NOTSTATS issues and/or the reasons detailed at WP:WHENSPLIT are met, or the subject meets WP:NLIST as a discrete subject.
- Articles not to be generated without demonstrating WP:SIGCOV.
International
[edit]- Cricket coverage in most non-Test playing countries in minimal, with little to no coverage of the players themselves.
Domestic
[edit]- There is no equivalence between status (first-class, list-A) and standard; many matches of a standard far below the "highest level" have been accorded status in certain countries (e.g. England and Pakistan).
- Players with very few appearances are far less likely to be notable; the notability of players with more appearances can also be questionable in the absence of substantial contributions/achievements.
England and Wales
[edit]- First-class counties – players are generally notable (with increasing exceptions historically and in T20/LA cricket)
- Minor Counties – regularly played in the early rounds of List A competitions, but players are generally not notable
- Universities − matches have been accorded first-class status, but since the later 20th century have generally been treated as practice matches and are not the highest standard of domestic cricket; university players from this era are generally not notable unless they have progressed into first-class cricket
Pakistan
[edit]- Departments – players are generally notable for the bigger teams that have been at the top of tree for many years
- Associations – standard varies wildly with changes in the structure of the domestic competitions (described as "little better than club cricket" on occasion); outside the bigger associations (e.g. Karachi) notability of players can be highly questionable[1]
- Provinces – players are generally notable
