Sébah & Joaillier was an Ottoman photography studio established by Pascal Sébah and one of the oldest photographic establishments in the Middle East, known for their leading role in Orientalist photography. Established in Constantinople in 1857 as the El Chark Société Photographic by Sébah, the studio expanded to Cairo in 1873 thanks to Sébah's international recognition as a result of his involvement in the Ottoman exhibition at the 1873 Vienna World's Fair. Following Sébah's death, the firm was taken over initially by Sébah's brother Cosmo, and then by his son Jean Pascal Sébah, who formed a partnership with Polycarpe Joaillier in 1888. Sébah & Joaillier became the preeminent photography studio in the Ottoman Empire as a result of their 1893 appointment as Palace Photographers of the Ottoman Empire. In 1909, 5 years after Joaillier's death in 1904, Jean Pascal Sébah sold the company to architect Antonio Perpignani. It would change hands multiple times before closing in 1974.
