Article Critique
[edit]I visited the Marysville Getchell High School page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: many outdated and(or) broken references, lack of images or links where they would be helpful, and problems with structure/completeness.
Citations
[edit]Links which you would expect to lead you to the MGHS website, which in itself could be a potential problem: links to/from the party itself, instead bring you to a general Marysville School District web page. This could be attributed to the lack of an actual MGHS website to begin with, due to the school's four separate SLCs (it should be noted links to these are included in the infobox). The general MGHS link is referenced multiple times, despite its nonexistence. The articles 'Capital Projects' reference is, yet again, a redirection to the School District home page, in an instance where both references following the sentence actually take you to the same website (the wrong one to begin with). Also, enrollment numbers used are backed by an OSPI report from 2011, after the school's first year of existence. These numbers could use updating. Furthermore, both references to CEFPI, speaking of the campus' "several design awards," are broken. One of which, link 1, brings you to an error, while the other, link 2, brings you to a homepage. Lastly, there is no citation regarding the specifics of the school's design which are given.
Use of Pictures
[edit]The article includes just one picture of the school, in fact only showing a single building of the campus' five total. As the article goes into detail of the school's "design and green features," there is opportunity to match verbal descriptions with visual evidence. One reference used previously, Brainspaces, includes a top-down image of the campus, as well us multiple concept diagrams. This connection could have been made.
Completeness
[edit]Aside from a brief description of the campus' facilities, the article really only discusses Marysville Getchell's design. Comparing this article to that of Marysville Pilchuck High School, MG's is noticeably lacking in content. If possible, there could be sections about each individual SLC, as each building has their own identity, program of classes, and general history. SFE, for example, is in charge of DECA and FBLA. Both of which participate in numerous competitions/events. Getchell also has a touted JROTC program which could be discussed, in addition to a history of the school's sports team (if possible with credible resources).
Conclusion
[edit]This article doesn't accomplish a whole lot... However, this is most likely because of a lack of legitimate sources being available. It does a decent job of discussing the school's physical characteristics and their significance and successfully gives a brief background. However, the article lacks additional content. I also feel the topics discussed could be better backed by references, and that there could be more images in places where physical traits are described.
(sidenote: I contributed to an ongoing discussion on this article's talk page here)
