Why would someone need to cite a reference when they were actually there and actively participated and sharing direct knowledge

Ridiculous that a first hand account gets deleted by someone in India who wasn’t even born yet challenges the first hand account of the WSO who first hand programmed his aircraft turn points, offsets, waypoints and targets into the very INS of the aircraft he was in ans was the one who held down the pickle button when the BNDT timer rolled down 68.4.238.77 (talk) 20:19, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
