Great Job

[edit]

I took care of the 2008 in Hip Hop page, while you are doing a great job with the 2009 in hip hop page. What I did, is went to hiphopdx.com and just went through http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news that page and found anything that had impacted the hip hop scene at least a little. You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 02:10, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to On the Floor. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 22:32, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ASAP Ferg

[edit]

If you think about it why would it be the standard version that is charting (6 months after release), and not the remix which has been released recently along with the music video and has been pushed to radio. It does not make sense that the solo version rather than the one with ASAP Rocky, Schoolboy Q and French Montana would be charting. Sometimes Billboard does not detonate that a single is the "remix", or sometimes use the sales figures for both versions of the song for one charting. Just think about it. STATic message me! 03:35, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes even with that example it was not even detonated as a remix. I have seen many cases where Billboard has not credited featured artists. It just makes much more sense that it would be the remix, I mean that is the much more recent version (being released to iTunes, radio and being promoted). I mean the original version was released to iTunes in January 2013 (being premiered much before that), why would it barely be charting now rather than the recent version. Consequence

[edit]

Hey, thanks for catching that. I am not that familiar with his career, and the Associated acts is also supposed to summarize the article like the rest of the infobox. If you read the article I do not think Cudi is mentioned once, and by reading it it seems only his first appearance was on A Tribe Called Quest song, and the group broke up shortly after that. I assumed someone was just trying to get big time names in the section. STATic message me! 14:24, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unrelated issue but I did not feel the need to make a new section - I noticed you have been editing the T.I. discography quite a bit recently, and I was going to say if you have time you might want to move all the singles such as; "No Matter What", "What's Up, What's Happening", "Bet I", "Trap Back Jumpin" etc. to the main singles section rather than the promotional singles section, as they do not meet the definition of a promotional single as they were all released for retail sale to iTunes as singles. I am not sure who originally moved them there, but their are quite a lot that are real singles in the "promotional singles" section. I am only asking since you have been editing the page quite a bit. If you ignore this or do not do it, it's cool I guess I will eventually get around to it, its just moving that much around in the discography can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but I would appreciate it. How you describe the album's reception, on Metacritic, it received the score of 63 (six critics were positive but nine of them were mixed). What your opinion of this, is the album's reception is mixed or lukewarm? TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 18:24, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I would say the reception is mixed. But Metacritic says "Generally favorable reviews based on 15 Critics". 1Sire (talk) 00:32, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, but I think "lukewarm" would make better sense, because articles like In the Lonely Hour and Views describes their critical reception as lukewarm also. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 08:40, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I agree actually, "lukewarm" seems to be the better description. 1Sire (talk) 17:52, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for agreeing with me, like the two articles I pointed out, both have mostly mixed reviews but Metacritic says "generally favorable reviews" in their website. So I be changing the album's reception from positive to lukewarm, do to the mostly mixed reviews had received. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 15:00, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Adding unsourced release dates

[edit]

In regards to your recent edits to Kid Cudi, there is no source for The Scotts coming out in 2023. Even if that is what somebody has said and you can provide a source, that's two years away and we should refrain from putting such things that are a long way off in discography sections. You'll find a lot of editors are very hardline about this section—some will remove all upcoming albums until and unless they have a concrete release date (citing WP:CRYSTAL), and in this case I agree with removing it as plans for albums in hip hop change quite often, even if Cudi said on Twitter that Entergalactic is now coming in 2022, because it's been on the way for three years at this point. When it has a release date and month, then by all means restore it. Until then, we should just leave it in the prose as it is that he is making the soundtrack for a Netflix series. Also, we don't list mixtapes in the discography section when the artist has a separate discography page, only studio albums. That's just the done thing.

I also saw you added a bit about his personal life sourced to Medium, which is a blog-hosting service and listed at WP:RSP as a website that should never be used as a secondary source for living persons. Thanks. Ss112 12:48, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please follow WP:BRD and stop restoring your changes to Kid Cudi#Discography. We do not list mixtapes as if they are part of an artist's main chronology—we only list studio albums in this section when the artist has a separate discography page. I'm sure you know this from how many artist articles you've edited, so don't disregard it on Cudi's article. Thank you. Ss112 07:50, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging pages for deletion

[edit]

Hello, 1Sire,

Every time you tag a page for deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/RFD/CFD/etc.), you must post a notification on the talk page of the page creator. If you use Twinkle, and set your Preferences to "Notify page creator", the program will post these notifications for you which makes things easy. I encourage you to use it whenever you tag pages as it also provides possible criteria for speedy deletion based on the type of page you are tagging. Liz Read! Talk! 01:51, 7 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Killthekingpromotional.jpeg. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Non-free rationale for File:Killthekingpromotional.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Killthekingpromotional.jpeg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 14:51, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop removing the grouping of albums on discographies

[edit]

In the past few months you have removed "Albums" as a second-level heading on several discography articles and then proceeded to make compilation albums, soundtracks etc. second-level headings (marked with == ==) and moving mixtapes to below EPs or separating them from being albums. This is simply strange, and you have never explained why. You should be explaining all major edits you make on Wikipedia and not expecting editors to assume why or have to come and ask you why. We group types of albums on discographies just like we group types of singles, and there's no conceivable benefit to making compilations, soundtracks and so on larger headings when they are all types of albums. Even if you disagree, mixtapes are still considered types of albums on Wikipedia at large. The category is even named Category:Mixtape albums; mixtape even says "In hip hop and R&B culture, a mixtape often describes a self-produced or independently released album issued free of charge to gain publicity or avoid possible copyright infringement." They are not a separate type of release like an EP, because an EP is typically shorter than an album but longer than a single, so that's why they are not or should not be grouped as types of albums. Mixtapes are still of album length and considered a different type of album project. Please either propose a change to the way we group albums and mixtapes at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums or please stop doing this without explanation. Thanks. February 2022

[edit]

Hello. Just wanted to make sure you realized that this editor is correct here - the level of content you just copy/pasted from a source is inappropriate. It's a WP:COPYVIO problem - something Wikipedia takes very seriously. You need to paraphrase and write in your own words, using direct quotes sparingly. If people want to read TheWraps thoughts at length, they need to be visiting their website. In addition to that, it's tonally way off for an encyclopedia anyways. There's no reason to be so heavily using their content like that. You've got to stop doing this immediately. Sergecross73 msg me 19:45, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sire. is there a reason to remove "Melted Stone"? Because it does not have any label or imprint. It just a copyright holder for her recordings.[4] --183.171.121.19 (talk) 01:59, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Teddy (upcoming film) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Teddy (upcoming film), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Deletion discussion about The-Dream production discography

[edit]

Hello, 1Sire, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username Tacyarg, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, The-Dream production discography, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The-Dream production discography .

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Tacyarg}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Kid Cudi

[edit]

Hi, I saw that you removed an edit I made to his article's lead section. I felt as though my edit was a fair none biased edit. Whereas it seems likely that you’re a fan of his work, which isn’t a problem but making biased edits is. Wikipedia should be fact based and more about information than honors. It’s nothing wrong with mentioning his influence in the lead which my edit still did. I just didn’t think it’s needs to be at the top section unless it’s more details about how he’s influential. I would really like to find a common ground, so I’m writing you to avoid a possible edit warring situation. Kanyfug (talk) 14:40, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:44, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mad Solar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from hispanicallyyours.com/kid-cudi-launches-production-music-management-company-mad-solar and billboard.com/articles/news/movies/9496857/kid-cudi-starring-in-real-life. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
