Archive details
[edit]Please don't remove archive details even if the source is still live. They aid if the source later goes dead. Also works like BBC News are exactly that, they are not agencies. Nthep (talk) 22:20, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Nthep: I understand, but most of those, such as BBC, never do.--207.225.154.177 (talk) 23:00, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- Fair point re the BBC but my point re agency or work remains. Also templates like harvb and sfn automatically insert periods after the page number, you don't need to add one manually. Check the reference list and you'll see you now have references like "Madison (2008) p. 54.." Nthep (talk) 06:11, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Nthep: Not really. On some I still see "Madison (2008) p. 54." and it was after I added that very period. Before that, it was "Madison (2008) p. 54", obviously I wouldn't have done so if I didn't saw it differently on my end.--207.225.154.177 (talk) 16:21, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to The Cruise of the Make-Believes. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it.

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did at Mini Rex, you may be blocked from editing. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings.

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you insert a spam link, as you did at American Fuzzy Lop. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines.

Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Muppet Babies (2018 TV series), did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Muppet Babies (2018 TV series). Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Magical Golden Whip (talk) 04:43, 27 November 2022 (UTC)
Low-quality edit
[edit]Hi there 207.225.154.177. You recently made a low-quality edit to the article You can't have your cake and eat it, which I mostly reverted. You removed all archive-urls from sources in which the url was still alive. This is undesired. If a page is online, it should be archived before it goes offline. And once it is archived, it is almost always a good idea to immediately add that link to the ref. In fact, there is a bot called User:InternetArchiveBot which does exactly that. It archives sources using the Internet Archive, then it immediately adds the links to the article. See their contributions.
In your edit, you also made a number of unhelpful cosmetic changes to the code, such as changing "Cite web" to "cite web". In addition, you removed many spaces from the code, making it more difficult to read. Furthermore, you added access-dates, which I personally think is the most useless thing ever on Wikipedia. However, as a gesture of good faith, I left those in.
I see that you also made good edits to this site. Thank your for those, and try sticking with that, alright? Take care, Manifestation (talk) 20:58, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Manifestation: Hi. It takes a while until the bot will reach the desired page, since Wikipedia is huge. I inserted accessdates to make sure from which point to archive once the link becomes dead. As for spaces, some articles are already without, and no body complained, but o' well.--207.225.154.177 (talk) 21:15, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- @207.225.154.177: ??? Wow. You seem completely unable to understand what I wrote. You even reinstated your low-quality edit, even though you are obviously in the wrong here. Look mate, you are going to get into trouble on this site if you continue to make such nonsensical edits. I advise you to at least refrain from removing those archive-urls from articles, lest you get blocked. - Manifestation (talk) 23:21, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
Archive links
[edit]Please do not remove archive links as they are useful if the reference becomes a dead link. The archive bots are very busy and sometimes take a long time to fix links so it is acceptable to have the archive link already in place, regards Atlantic306 (talk) 21:54, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
- Please do not edit war. What discussions? @Nthep: is an admin who has already asked you not to do it Atlantic306 (talk) 22:22, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Atlantic306: Yeah, but he also said that it's not something worth edit war over, which you end up doing. I explained to him that some archives don't die and he agreed.--207.225.154.177 (talk) 22:27, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
- But a lot of links do go. Also Im not edit-warring as I started a discussion with you Atlantic306 (talk) 22:31, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Atlantic306: Then stop accusing me of being an edit warrior. You reverted my edit, I reverted yours, with an explanations provided.--207.225.154.177 (talk) 22:34, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

- See WP:BRD Atlantic306 (talk) 22:35, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Atlantic306: And this is exactly what I did, boldly reverted you revert and explained the reason behind it. Now we discuss it.--207.225.154.177 (talk) 22:36, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
- That's not how it works, this is your bold edit here which I reverted and you reverted instead of discussing. Anyway I don't see any justification for removing archive links as even sites like the BBC move articles around on their website (although these are not BBC websites) so it is useful to keep the archive links, imv Atlantic306 (talk) 22:51, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Atlantic306: And imv, it's not.--207.225.154.177 (talk) 22:57, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
