ALWAYS ask for help at the Teahouse

[edit]

Remember: make sure that you ask for help at the Teahouse instead of continuing to do your thing. 208.59.132.152 (talk) 20:04, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, such as the ones you made to Dreamworld (Australian theme park). I hope you like the place and decide to stay.

Here are some links to pages you may find useful:

You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but if you wish to acquire additional privileges, you can simply create a named account. It's free, requires no personal information, and lets you:

Note that in order for the first three features to be available, you must have had an account for a minimum number of days and made a minimum number of edits.

If you edit without using a named account, your IP address (208.59.132.152) is used to identify you instead.

I hope that you, as a Wikipedian, decide to continue contributing to our project: an encyclopedia of human knowledge that anyone can edit. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, or you can click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. We also have an intuitive guide on editing if you're interested. By the way, please make sure to sign and date your talk page comments with four tildes (~~~~).

Happy editing! HiLo48 (talk) 02:57, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

Thanks for your improvements to False imprisonment.

I thought I would remind you of this, since you appear to be new:

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! --David Tornheim (talk) 11:17, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Galendalia. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Public toilet seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Galendalia CVU Member \ Chat Me Up 19:36, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Highway of Tears. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. Galendalia CVU Member \ Chat Me Up 19:57, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please know about WP:TOOMUCH, per Public toilet. Thanks, Signed,The4lines |||| (You Asked?) (What I have Done.) 20:11, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at American Eagle (roller coaster), you may be blocked from editing. Epistulae ad Familiares (talk) 10:57, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You are making quite a few unnecessary changes/modifications to the convert template being used at roller coaster articles. Some have been helpful, but many are not. Also your punctuation around dates have been off at times (unnecessary commas). If you need help, ask on my talk page or at the Teahouse. If you notice edits in the future getting reverted, please stop and ask questions. If you continue to proceed and ignore these reversions, it will be interpreted as disruptive editing. Thank you. --GoneIn60 (talk) 20:02, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. This is a message to let you know that your edits to Millennium Force did not appear constructive and have been reverted. There are only two Intamin Giga coasters which the source you cited clearly indicates. Nonetheless, you tried to classify two Strata coasters as Giga coasters, which they are not. Please familiarize yourself with generally accepted coaster terminology before making any additional edits.JlACEer (talk) 02:10, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon You have been warned several times now about edits you continue to make. Action will be taken if you continue down this path. If you need help, go to the Teahouse and ask for it, or begin a discussion on the article's talk page. --GoneIn60 (talk) 03:44, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dates and Commas

[edit]

Please stop putting commas between the month and the year as you did to the articles Orion (roller coaster) and Carowinds. A comma is only needed when the numeric date is specified. See WP:NCDATES.JlACEer (talk) 16:19, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Contractions

[edit]

Hi. Please read the manual of style regrading the use of contractions, like "it's" "they're" "we'll" etc. Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 18:13, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

July 2020

[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Diamondback (Kings Island). Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. GoneIn60 (talk) 04:22, 5 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to make disruptive, inappropriate or unnecessary changes, such as you did at Fury 325, you may be blocked from editing. The removal of commas and changing to shorthand-form for hidden parameters is causing other editors more work. There is a Wikipedia Manual of Style you should follow in addition to standard grammatical rules in English. Edits should not deliberately go against either without special reason. Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Superman The Ride, did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that.

Adding periods to numerical statistics so that they compute with different significant numbers is inappropriate and unnecessary. There are "sigfig" parameters that can be used when necessary, as explained to you many times before on this talk page. GoneIn60 (talk) 11:09, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Convert templates

[edit]

Hello, please stop adding "."'s to figures in conversion templates, as they override the default precision and are plain confusing for other editors; this is especially inappropriate when words like "approximately" come before a convert template. If you continue to change convert templates in this manner, you may be blocked. Graham87 15:50, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@220 of Borg: Yeah, just like those. Just wow ... thanks for letting me know ... I did check their edits in the next few days after sending that message and found nothing problematic ... duly blocked now. Graham87 03:40, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. Thanks! 220 of ßorg 15:54, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
