The phrase "produces יְהֹוָה‎ and יֱהֹוִה‎ respectively, non-words that would spell "Yehovah" and "Yehovih" is problematic for two reasons:

1. The link "non-words" goes to "Ghost-words" where the definition is: "A ghost word is a word published in a dictionary or similarly authoritative reference work even though it had not previously had any meaning or been used intentionally." It would be hard to imagine words that have grater meaning to Hebrew speaking people than וָה‎ and יֱהֹוִה‎, so the use of the term does NOT match the definition.
2. The over all tone of this section borders on antisemitism. Were it not for the Masoretes and their attempt to standardize pronunciation & paragraph/verse divisions within the Tanakh, the western world might never have know the stories of the "bible". The wording of this paragraph seems to lack any appreciation for that basic fact.

A solution might be to remove "non-words that" completely, but for now I have simply used the actual "ghost words" text that the link goes to.

According to Wikipedia, the Bureau of Ethnology was established in 1879... two years BEFORE the given dates of Powell's appointment as director of the US Geological Survey.
