Speedy deletion nomination of Wembley or Bust
[edit]Hello 80s Sam,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Wembley or Bust for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Wembley or Bust, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. --John B123 (talk) 17:30, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Wembley or Bust, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. --John B123 (talk) 17:30, 2 August 2020 (UTC)

Lee Pomeroy moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Lee Pomeroy, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello 80s Sam! Your additions to Progress (Michael Giles album) have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 22:41, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Muse (band). Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. 4TheWynne (talk • contribs) 00:27, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

Addition of unsourced instruments
[edit]Hi, please don't add instruments to the infobox of individuals without providing a source. "Harmonica", like you've added at Warren Bennett (musician)), isnt even mentioned once throughout the whole article. Additionally, not every instrument a person has ever played should be added to the infobox per Template:Infobox musical artist: "Instruments listed in the infobox should be limited to only those that the artist is primarily known for using. The instruments infobox parameter is not intended as a WP:COATRACK for every instrument the subject has ever used." ---FMSky (talk) 23:34, 21 July 2022 (UTC)

Please use edit summaries
[edit]Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
I noticed your recent edit to Steve Jones (musician) does not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits a summary may be quite brief.
Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Thanks! .--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 16:42, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

[edit]You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at The Beatles. GET CONSENSUS FOR ANY ADDITIONAL CHANGES TO THE TIMELINE. Sundayclose (talk) 20:04, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
- In just a few short months you have already racked up enough warnings to lose your editing privileges. And your utter refusal to explain your edits in edit summaries or to communicate or respond to warnings from multiple editors makes it virtually certain that another disruptive edit or failure to discuss will achieve that result. You can't say you haven't been warned -- many times. Sundayclose (talk) 20:10, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
- Let me make something clear. Given your history of disruptive edits with timelines and refusal to communicate, get consensus for changes to ANY timeline in ANY article. Otherwise you'll either be defending yourself at WP:ANI or getting blocked for refusing to communicate. Sundayclose (talk) 16:15, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you make disruptive edits to Wikipedia contrary to the Manual of Style, as you did at List of the Who band members. Sundayclose (talk) 23:44, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
Your recent editing history at List of John Mayall band members shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Apparently you don't understand what consensus means on Wikipedia.
[edit]Consensus on Wikipedia does not mean you make one comment at the same time that you make the change in the article. You must wait for others to respond and give enough support for your suggested changes. Read WP:CON. Get consensus for ANY change to ANY timeline and then wait for enough support. Your days of unilateral changes to timelines with no respect for other opinions or Wikipedia policies are over. Stop your disruptive editing to timelines. Sundayclose (talk) 15:44, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
- And yet another policy that you either are oblivious to or simply ignore: Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory copyright infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube or Sci-Hub, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Don't cite or otherwise link to YouTube unless you are absolutely sure it is available for free use, as you did at Steve Jones (musician). Sundayclose (talk) 15:54, 19 October 2022 (UTC)

Deen Castronovo Edits
[edit]I commented directly on the talk page for it, but you don’t seem to comment or respond to those comments. I don’t even know if you will hear.
It appears to me that you’re editing things that don’t need to be edited, but that’s a smallish problem. The problem with this edit is (and I don’t know where you got the source version to edit) your changing “Associated with” to “formerly of” makes some of the bands/mentioned factually incorrect. Deen was never “formerly of” Fear Factory, Social Distortion, Cacophony… He is, also, still in the Revolution Saints. They continue to record and release music. By eliminating “associated with,” you’re omitting his Shrapnel years, which are an important part of his career. (Although the Cacophony wiki page lists him as a former member, the personnel for “Go Off” —the only album he played on—does not list him as a member. They list him as an additional musician.) Please update your edits after some research or I will. KaytieKay (talk) 05:13, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page.
I noticed that you recently added multiple "citations/references" to band members that were sourced to DISCOGS; the community determined in 2019 that Discogs is an unreliable source. See: Wikipedia:RSDISCOGS for more information on this matter. It's considered unreliable because it is user submitted content. Additionally, these "citations" point to completely illegible photographs of album liners/notes. I know you were trying to improve the article in good faith, but these need to be removed from the article. Sources from published books, magazines, or newspapers are considered reliable sources. Please replace the citations with high quality ones instead. Thank you. Netherzone (talk) 21:45, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Yessongs film cover yes.jpeg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Yessongs film cover yes.jpeg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Toto (band) into List of Toto band members. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 14:15, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Dave Holland drummer.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Dave Holland drummer.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press, Getty Images), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the non-free content guidelines, please add the appropriate non-free use tag and rationale.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Whpq (talk) 01:24, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
