Image copyright problem with Image:Camels in oregon.JPG
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Camels in oregon.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 06:10, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

License for Image:Settlemier House Woodburn, Oregon.JPG
[edit]The image Settlemier House Woodburn, Oregon.JPG is a candidate to be copied to the Wikimedia Commons. When you uploaded this image, you licensed it for use under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). On behalf of the Wikipedia and Commons communities, thank you.
You also chose a license tag which adds disclaimers to the GFDL. As explained at Wikipedia:GFDL standardization, these disclaimers cause certain re-use problems that make the GFDL less free than it could be. Before I copy this image to the Commons, I wanted to ask whether you would be willing to remove the disclaimers from your GFDL tag. No one other than you may legally alter the license. If you do choose to modify the license on this image, I respectfully recommend any of the following best-practices license tags: You are under no obligation whatsoever to alter the license. Doing so merely cooperates with those members of the community who believe that disclaimers in individual media are undesirable. Wikipedia consensus still allows GFDL licenses with disclaimers, as does the Commons. Whether or not you choose to remove the disclaimers, thank you for your consideration. Speedy deletion of Ron Protas
[edit]A tag has been placed on Ron Protas requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Phallos.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Phallos.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:31, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Argevita2pr.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Argevita2pr.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:14, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Northwest Tibetan Cultural Association
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Northwest Tibetan Cultural Association, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Image:Sam Brown House - Gervais Oregon.jpg
[edit]Did you take the photo Image:Sam Brown House - Gervais Oregon.jpg? Do you know where the house is located? I'm trying to add a coordinate for Sam Brown House, but I have yet to find a resource that knows where it is located. The caption for this photo in the article is the most useful I've found so far—perhaps you added it? Searching by satellite image, my best guess is 45°06′21″N 122°53′13″W / 45.105856°N 122.88705°W. This is reinforced by this overly simplified diagram, part of the Sam Brown House Library of Congress files. —EncMstr (talk) 18:21, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Panoramadiparodiligure.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Panoramadiparodiligure.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? dave pape (talk) 06:12, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
I don't believe the reference you added for the alleged source material is accurate or valid. First of all, it reads, "It is the basis of the Evita in the musical Evita," which suggests to me the book is the source of the characterization of the woman rather than the musical itself. I have the posters, programs, and cast recordings from the original London and Broadway productions and the original Australian cast album. None of them list this book as a source for the musical. I would think if it had been then this information would have been included somewhere in the credits. Nicholas Fraser and Marysa Navarro may think the book was a source, but that doesn't mean they're correct. LiteraryMaven (talk) 16:24, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response. Please note that Rice said he considers The Woman with the Whip to be the only accurate book about Eva Peron, but he doesn't specify he used it as source material. That Fraser and Navarro stated the musical is based on the Main book doesn't make them accurate. As I said, it seems odd that a book allegedly used as the basis of the musical never was credited as its source in the programs or on posters or was cited as such in books about Rice and/or Lloyd Webber. Eva Peron article
[edit]Thank you for your intervention. I was wondering if maybe you could intervene in what seems to be something of a conflict with User:Pigsonthewing. I finally bowed and included in the intro paragraphs a reference to the musical. He rewrote it and said that I used uncited "weasil words." He then included a reference which he himself didn't cite either. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that "Outside of Argentina she is perhaps most famously known as the subect of the musiscal Evita." I request your intervention on this because I fear that this is going to continue. Thank you. -- Andrew Parodi (talk) 22:50, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- Well, it's possibly true, but it's uncited. You can't really make any statement that isn't already in the article body, but I didn't notice anything anywhere that actually said that it was so only outside Argentina, you just need to say it was successful and influential or something.- (User) Wolfkeeper (Talk) 23:05, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
